I think its easy to get into the mindset of do more squatting will make the squat go up, but that really does not work for any of the big 4.
This game is 50% mental 100% of the time lol
how did you find the lat pulldown for GHR’s? I use it but need a pole for some assistance… I find that I need to do them regularly or get awful hamstring / calf cramping / tearing sensations.
how about trap bar deadlift? some people like… some people hate…
Very weird, I would put my feet where my thighs should be and would put a Bosu ball on the floor to give me some assistance. At times I would look like a levitating fetus, which I think is what I mentioned way back…
How do you feel about the good ole leg curl?
levitating fetus is exactly how they look
I had decent results with a bosu ball and a smith maching - making two pieces of shit gear useful.
derek- why would you say add more squats does not make the squat go up
I think its the only ‘big four’ where volume and frequency makes things move faster
for people like say meat or petes they might need to do alllot more to make an already big squat bigger
for most of us- I think squatting 3x a week if possible on joints - will make things move up much faster
really you can do it 2x a week - and show lots of progress
Isn’t Sheiko based on a shit ton of volume and frequency for the main lifts?
I’ve been doing the levitating fetus bit with my heels hooked under the lat pulldown thigh pads. I also do the leg curl and the back extension hinging at the hips only, back flat the entire time; I think Meat has a video of it using a barbell with weights. Ed Coan’s program back in the day used leg curls with the toes pointed to take the calves out of the movement.

Im worried about my hammy…
Thanks for the vid Matty. I also changed my bar position and it’s about where yours is now. You’ve got a lot more meat on your back to support the bar than I do though. I’ve got to work on that.
Hope your hammy heals up quickly. Like Kev would say, just ice it.

A Matty video…sigh…my weekend is complete. ![]()
Take care of that hamstring. I busted mine up a couple years ago, thought I could work through it, and it’s still acts up on me, sumbitch.
Big as ever and doing some outstanding squats. Good work.
