How much is a good standard or base for a ‘natural’ to bulk and cut?
whereever they are now? retardedly worded query i think. a natty is the same as an enhanced, tryin to be as muscular as possible, and in a competition they wanna be as lean as possible
- Or 69. Or neither.
Building muscle takes years.
Cutting fat takes weeks.
If you cut fat, you will lose muscle.
Keep bulking. Once you feel you are too soft, drop calories slightly or lower carbs.
DON’T GO INTO FULL CUTTING MODE.
After a month or two, if you’ve done things right, you’ll be the same weight as when you were ‘soft’ but you’ll now look better.
At this point keep bulking. For years.
natty
lol
you suck.
lol
your mom.
Fort Dix is the biggest one in New Jersey, so that would be the best one for me. But everyone’s different depending on where they live and how many shits they take in any given day.
Plenty of time to cut when you’re dead.
ok ok … sorry … jeeze…
all i’m looking for is a little bulking and cutting info for someone who doesn’t use enhancements. I know a local natural competitor (who is way more advanced than I) that has advised me to go on smaller bulks and cuts (2-6 weeks) and never go above 13% bodyfat. Another person gave me very different advice. He said I could and should have come in a few lbs heavier. He claimed my bulk was way too conservative and I was too concerned with gaining excessive bf.

That competitor you spoke to was an idiot…and I am seriously doubting he was very big at all with that mindset.

Did that competitor you spoke to ever do large bulks? It’s different when you’ve already reached “competition size” and make small adjustments between contests.
Except for the 13% bf thing yeah that’s roughly Layne’s method. His method involves having a tight control on your daily macro’s that some people aren’t into having though.
There’s more than one way to skin a cat, but if you are new to training you should probably stick to your basic straight bulk until a base is built though.

I’d tend to agree with the second person. While it may be possible {i]for some people[/i] to gain substantial amounts of muscle while staying relatively lean, the majority are going to have to “smooth out” and go well above 13% bodyfat. And even if one is capable of staying lean while gaining, it’s going to be a much slower process.
Look at FattyFat’s thread in the T-Cell “Bodybuilding My Way” if you want a good example of someone who wasn’t afraid to eat and made big time progress in a relatively short time period.

or you could just stop posting dude.
Thanks Sentoguy … holy #@!$ that was a real bulk phase! Impressive.
this depends on a lot of things. for example
i am a skinny 20 year old. i was a fat baby. at no point between my infancy and my current size did i cut. in fact, every day of my life is an unending quest for size. napolean syndrome (fun fact, napolean was a tall frenchman. and not really french, from corsica. so more italian raelly) or something. so, some days i eat, some days i eat more, sometimes i just fall ouut of habit. when i stop stuffing my face as much as i can mentally take, and when i stop liftin for a little bit, i usually drop about 10 pounds.
so i dont really do either.i started liftin at 90lbs, i was 4’11. im now 5’9, 165-170. last year i was 155-160. i have seen every ab every day of my life. i see my serratus, intercoastals, every day. so why would i cut? i wouldnt/dont. on purpose. i fall out of habit and im instantly beach ready.
if you are like me in any regards, do as i do. otherwise, you have to try shit out for yourself. it’ll take a long time, you’ll need too read a lot, eat a lot, and lift a lot.
if your fat and untrained, or just untrained, i say do nothin to your diet, just starrt workin out. eat the same way, but make minor tweaks while continuing to lift. substitute water for pop. replace iced tea with milk. replace cereal with eggs and bacon and oatmeal. start eatin more fruit. keep liftin. eventually, and not too long either, you’ll find yourself what we all “in shape” now, young padawan you can start. this phase should last, i dunno, 3 months. if your an inactive fuck, do pushups in sets of 7, focus on the turnaround from down to up (read The Perfect Rep in the Anaconda forum) do chinups. if your light, aim for 15 total. and dont half ass a single one. each rep should always be as hard as you can make it on yourself, no shortcuts. for legs, practice wall squats and bodyweight squats
now you start focusin on the aspects of your life which are holding you back from gaining muscle. are you liftin intensly enough? is your liftin well rounded. back, chest, legs, shoulders, arms. at least. maybe you train abs maybe not. are you gettin better at liftin, AKA are pull ups getting easier, is the squat becoming more natural, are you adding weight/reps/speed/sets to the bar. next, are you eating like a growing soldier would? hunks of meat, milk, basically liftin as if, one day soon you might be thrown into batte and every ounce of your being must be ready. lastly, are you treatin the time after a workout prrperly, gegttin a Post WorkOut shake?
fulfill all those, and forget about bulking/cuttin.
to paraphrase
1)get in shape and fix poor dietary habits
2)focus on liftin as a lifestyle
3)consider your goals and take appropriate steps, lift hard and eat well
several disclaimers. being a fat fuck is no excuse to decide to “keep bulkin” unless your are a well trained person. like a football player, or rugby player. someone who is muscular and fat, they dont have to worry about being in shape cause they already are. they can GET IN SHAPE (its not cuttin unless your goin for a contest, and even then your just gettin in shape) if they want, but being 200 lbs at 20% or 180 at 15% is purely aesthetic. you can gain muscle either way as long as your healthy with a good hormone level. especially if your a young man. not sayin you cant with bad hormones, itd prob just be harder.
if your a fat fuck and dont do shit, lose some freakin weigh man. get in shape. learn what your skinny self really looks like, that should be the inspiration you need to start building muscle. check out the velocity diet if you need to drop useless fat. useless fat sucks the testosterone right outta you you women
always live a life that maximizzes the man in you. sleep well, eat good food (whole eggs, red meat, fish, fruit, honey, veggies). im not sayin you cant eat junk in your pursuit of size ( calories are calories), and you need to be careful of your cholesterol. but reward you body for keepin you alive by feeding it good food
i dunno i covered anythin i could think of, andd i look forward to what the experianced lifters think. i hope i saved them time
a little story bout me, i couldnt gain weight lass year, id eat 6 times a day, chicken and salad or chicken an cottage cheese. aka P+C or P+F. utter fail no matter how much chicken i ate. plus some eggs, a couple bowls of oatmeal. more time spent eatin than in my whole life
this year, every time i eat i stuff my face. 8 egggs, 250gs of berries, glass of milk. which is starting to feel like its not enough. i literally eat that meal 2-3 times a day, with a second meal of 3 scoops protein powder, cup of oats, peanut butter and another glas of milk spread over 2 meals. id feel full every meal, and im gaining weight. so stuff your face son. just go balls out, if you gain some fat, there are 50 articles on this site that’ll tell you how to lose it. do the things you havent done yet. for me, it looks like i need to drink more milk, eat more eggs, and make some chili again
I’m pretty sure Layne never got to his size by doing small bulks/cuts all his life.
