You already mentioned some great resources.

I’d suggest checking out Alan Aragon’s stuff too, he’s definitely one of the best.

Based off this book alone, I’m definitely going to hunt down more of his stuff.

This book is just awesome, as it takes a lot of things that are th gospel an just completely shreds them. The insulin fallacy, food combining myths, and I haven’t even got to the supplement section yet. It sounds cliche, but this book is changing my life!

I’m really glad you’ve “seen the light”. I remember when I was going through the same thing, it’s kinda scary to look back at some of the stuff I believed even just a year ago…

Of course this means from now on pretty much everything you hear at the gym/read on message boards will make you want to rip your hair out…

You guys know a good place to purchase this book? It’s really limited in terms of internet exposure and access.

Probably a book store. I checked the local Laundrymat and they didn’t have it.

lol, sorry.
LOL yeah that’s the most logical place…but it’s farily limited so I was hoping to get it used somewhere. New and pricey is the only option it appears

Cool stuff, definitely going to check out those books.

Men’s Health Power Training by Robert Dos Remedios was the best book I read this past year though. I think his volume is insanely high though. But he’s influenced the way I train.

Bodyopus by Daniel Duchaine was fucking awesome!

I am currently reading Warp speed fat loss by Cosgrove and Roussell.

Truth, fact and science usually do. You should try them.

I loved the interview with Dos Remedios where he laughed at being questioned about his soy intake since he’s vegetarian.

You want “truth, fact and science” huh? Let’s take a look at some of the gems of knowledge you’ve dropped on this board, shall we?
“More “reducing macronutrients causes fat loss because people must be eating less calories” assumption crap.”

“exactly. A Calorie is not a Calorie. It is a statement people use to apply laws of physics to the notion, and to remove any possible other belief.”

“what i mean is, if someone is in perfect caloric balance, adding 150 grams of sugar will be more anabolic than adding 150 grams of protein, and that anabolism of sugar will be fat creation”

“fat stores itself even better in the presence of insulin”

“I would say avoid carbohydrate before sleep because it will blunt any surge of GH you’d rather receive during your sleeping hours.”

“There is definitely some merit in at least some of this post, I wouldn’t call b.s. on the whole thing at all.”
^^ this quote is in response to: “There are reasons we eat Protein and Fat together and protein and carbs. Insulin. Eating fat and carbs are a death warrant to bb’ers when consumed together and lays adipose tissue down as easily as Home Depot lays down cheap carpet.”

but it gets better…

“Post workout, whole milk has been shown to stimulate protein synthesis to a greater extent than skim.” - David Barr

nice use of “science” buddy…Bro-science, maybe.

Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto is a very good read, and a reminder to uncomplicate things by getting back to basics.

Thankyou for your personal shrine to me  a bit stalker-ish though

Justin Harris’ book just arrived. I’ll probably read that next.

In reference to Jamie Hale, does anybody know where I can get the XDL Diet book?

Justin’s book? Comprehensive Performance Nutrition Quick Reference Q&A Guide?

If so, I have that one. Nothing more than you already know, probably. Lots of information Shelby has graciously given out through articles and answering questions.

stalker-ish? no, not really. all it took was a click on the “find all posts” link in your profile. then it was just a matter looking in the thread and finding your post.

it wasn’t that hard because nearly every damn thing you write is wrong in one way or another. which is pretty sad coming from someone who touts themselves as being educated in nutrition.

I suggest you find a new hobby. You know, one you’re not terrible at.

The Omnivore’s Dilemma is the best book I’ve ever read; well-written, informative and compelling. It was a call to action for me in many ways.

JM, you’re my hero.

Anything by Johnny Bowden is a must in my mind. I recently picked up “The 150 Most Effective Ways to Boost Your Energy.” And let me tell you, it was worth every penny.

I’m currently reading R.L. Stine’s “Say Cheese and Die”. Goosebumps are such fine books. Wait… O. Ok, I see whats going on in this thread.

The first book I read on nutrition was Berardi’s “Metabolism Advantage”. It wasn’t really geared towards someone my age, but had lots of great info that I used and learned from. I then started reading his online articles and found a few that he had written here. I then “discovered” this place and learned more about nutrition.

I feel that Justin Harris’ Seminar DVD at Powerhouse Gym is a good buy. Its all about nutrition and I find it more informative than his book.

Glad you enjoyed Knowledge and Nonsense. I would highly recommend Alan’s book and Lyle’s books.

Jamie, is there anywhere I can purchase the XDL Diet?
