What makes you grateful to be alive?
For me I’d have to say:
1.The tenderness of my daughter’s cheek against mine when I wake her up with a hug and kiss on the forehead each morning. There is no better feeling in the world.
2.Looking into her big beautiful blues eyes and hearing her respond â??I love you too daddyâ?? when dropping her off at school. Unconditional love (given or received) is a rarity these days.
3.The smell of dew on the grass in the morning or the smell of rain in the air after a good storm. I finally quit smoking after almost 17 years (coming up on three years this December) This is one of the few things that keeps me from going back. The sense of smell is one thing Iâ??ll never take for granted again.
4.A good powerful summer thunderstorm. I donâ??t know about the rest of you, but there is nothing like a good thunderstorm out here on the plains to really knock you on your ass and fill you with a sense of awe and vulnerability; to remind you how small you really are in the scheme of things.
My kids, a nice long run to work up a thirst and then drown it in beer, lifting heavy, working hard, shutting people’s mouths when they think I can’t do something, and other generally silly shit.
