What is This 'Coaches' Problem?

He can total what he totals by squatting half a foot high, a half ass gear whore bench in gazillion ply. And maybe he’s a good deadlifter. I saw a video of his 800 squat. It was silly.

As for Dave, he has a lot of articles up by people. Parrish from what I remember was into gear whoring on the early end of things. He actually knew a bit on getting more out of the stuff in the early days of the advanced gear.

But he is still delusional.
Got a link to the 800 vid?
Sorry, I don’t.
I saw it years ago and wasn’t very impressed other than thinking he’s delusional.

He said one of the kids squats 400 pounds for 15 reps. I didn’t notice him mentioning any gear so I suppose it was gearless squat (he compared starting numbers to current numbers, so it would be ridiculous to compare raw numbers to geared ones). Oh really now. That kid must be a world record holder.

And some kid nicknamed “Arnold” went to a raw competition and did 285-150-310 in IPA. I’m taking a guess that IPA is international powerlifting association but nowhere did I hear any mention of kilograms. If those are pounds then that is laughable.

Is this the one?

People should definately be able to handle questioning of their system and defend it with professionalism and integrity, not telling young kids to shut the fck up, the way this guy seems to respond. If I spoke to someone I was training like that I’m pretty sure my days making a living from it would be extremely fleeting! Which makes me wonder why the fck this guy is still making a living from it and not living in a box under a bridge.

You’re right that kids shouldn’t have to question their coach, otherwise where would you draw the line? Everyone would end up doing bro-assisted bench and curls every session and when people asked why they would say “that’s what our coach has us do…at least, ever since he ran out of patience and gave up explaining why squats would be better!” So it should be the responsibility of the parents to check their coach is reputable, knowledgeable and safe. Is it really beyond their abilities to do a little research? I plan to train my daughter myself but I know if she wants my help in something I have no idea about, I will consult someone who does, but also look into it and educate myself enough to figure out the difference between that someone who does know what they’re talking about and someone who just thinks they do. Can’t be too careful when it comes to your kids’ welfare!

Oh my god. I lol’d out loud. That coach is a douche and needs to be shot.

I think i remember my legs being that big… when I was 16

Can some-one please shoot this dickhead in the knees, I dont ever want to see anyone do an 800lb 1/4 squat like that again in my life, or tell kids to “shut up”. What a wanker.

A new installment yaaaaaaaaay!!!

lol. I just heard about this guy yesterday. How some lifter hasn’t tracked him down and beaten him savagely yet is beyond me.

Among the dozens of things you could point out here, the one thing I keep noticing is his weight inflation. In the vid above of him doing a “squat” with 50 pairs of bands, he claims there’s 115 on the bar. Unless there’s an 85 pound bar floating around that I’m unaware of there’s no more than 30, 40 pounds max on that bar.

the kid at 6:30 is actually decently strong, although his ‘high’ squats are the same depth as the others’ ‘deep’ squats…

check deesh one too:

Also, BUY SOME J-HOOKS.

I see this douchebag has an interview on bb.com. He’s so full of shit. I googled him and one of his sites is joeaveragestrength.com. It has an email for him listed as joeaveragestrength@epix.net. I really don’t know if this will help to contact this asshole or not, but it’s worth a shot. P.S. That site also has a forum section. It appears ignorant people are buying into his bullshit.

Just so yall know, comments are allowed on that video…you know, if yall wanted to politely let him know how yall feel bout his training

I may only be an apprentice strength coach right now, but I can say that that is just wrong.

He’s gonna ruin those kids with all that crappy squatting.

I’ve trained on Joe Average’s System for three years now, look at me now!

The following is the answer I got from emailing the address I posted earlier:

“I block people because of their ignorant comments, I’ll have a conversation with anyone.
Have you or your friends at T-Nation ever hear of Joe Mazza or Dennis Cieri?
If you haven’t heard of these 2 benchers, do some research and then get back to me. Hint, Mazza was on the front cover of powerlifting USA in Jan and Cieri is featured on the I.P.F. pamphlet for the world bench press championships in Austria in 3 weeks.
Mazza and Anthony King are both sponsored by the supplement company MHP, both train here, look them up on the MHP website.
When it comes to strength training, whether it be kids or world champion benchers, I do know what I’m doing.
If you are going to be ignorant, this conversation will end.”

Obviously, this guy can’t be talked to.

one thing though, joe mazza does endorse the system, he’s not lying about that.

He needs a barbell up his ass Vlad the Impaler style

Seems like he has the “everyone is clueless except me” attitude. I wonder how long it is going to take for one of those kids to kirk on him.
