The snatch is a competition strength lift that uses a barbell and requires a clear lock out.
You’re right. I’m just throwing ideas out there though. The chest-supported row makes more sense from a powerlifting perspective.
I would immediately cheat by applying WD40 to reduce friction, haha. To say nothing of transportation issues.
Powerlifting was marketed as something that ANYONE can do. All you need is a barbell, a stand and a bench. When we make it require more, it loses its spirit.
Those used to be great shoes
My grandpa called it “D Dubya Farty”
The answer is to apply grease before each lift. When it comes to transportation, the machine can be taken apart and reassembled.
Ultimately, powerlifting is incomplete without a pulling exercise that’s analogous the bench press. The squat and deadlift are counterparts, albeit not exactly so. There should be something for the bench press as well.
Powerlifting is about maximum moved weight in 3 specific lifts, powerlifting isn’t about creating balance in your training, or balance in it’s recording of strength feats, powerlifting also doesn’t care what you think about it’s completeness, powerlifting is cold and callous.
That’s fair enough.
Yeah man. I still wear some.
By chance, have you attended a meet before? They already take forever, haha. This will make them take insanely long.
And smell infinitely worse by the end. Old grease and tren sweat.
Talk about long… Back in the 1970’s and before, most AAU bodybuilding contests were held after the AAU powerlifting meet was over. It is a real thrill to get on the stage at midnight or later, where the posing light(s) were attached to the basketball backboard on the gym floor.
Sounds legit. I’ll have to do some more reading, thanks.
Anecdotally, stretched pulls fire my lats up and I feel them down to the bottom of my rib cage though.
I haven’t. How long do they take?
It’s not uncommon for big meets to run into the next day. Especially so for geared meets.
In that case, nevermind.
I recall Charles Bailey taking 3 different strength bench shirts. On his strongest shirt he needed over 700lbs to be able to get the bar down to his chest.
I suppose everyone using gear could slow things down.
I had a pair I wore out. Now it’s Asics and occasionally my old school Vans
Appreciate your positive attitude sir. But remember “feeling” something doesn’t’ always = growth. As for lats they lose tension at certain lengths. The only muscles shown to grow under stretch are legs and chest. They still have tension and activity at those lengths whereas other muscles lose it at certain lengths.
It’s kinda counter intuitive but it’s the physiology of our bodies.
