What are you talking about.

Richards competed in the late 80’s/early 90’s if i recall correctly.

He’s a bodybuilder.
Read on from that post. I explain myself clearly.
Ok, well then he’s a retired bodybuilder. Still a bodybuilder.

Even if he wasnt, 99.999% of people who claim to be a bodybuilder dont look like him so he gets a pass either way.
Continue onward. I posted Sean Connery as well. Bodybuilder? I don’t think so.

A Corvette ZR1 is a 200 mph car. If i buy a ZR1, i will most likely never drive it 200 mph, but that doesnt mean its anything other than a 200 mph car.

A Kia can claim its a 200 mph car and try its darnedest to be a 200 mph car all it wants. It will never be a 200 mph car.

The Vette doesnt have to ever actually do it. It just is. Vic Richards just is.

In summation, i like Corvettes.
Allow me to retort…

Please dont ever compare a mustang to a ZR1 again.

The mustang has more power. We’ll have to wait and see what performance turns out to be. But at probably about half the price. I’ll take 2 of the 662 hp gt500s, or 1 and spend the other 50 grand making it kick a ZR1s ass. That mustang will be a 200+ MPH car for 50 some K. the ZR1 can kiss my pale white butt.

This thread has been a 32 on a scale of elephant to potato.

No disrespect to steelyD who started this thread (I don’t mean to diverge from the question, nor start a shitstorm), but…Honestly, I never even paid the word much attention. I am more concerned with my next 10 lbs, than what the word bodybuilding means. It is counterproductive to argue about it. I don’t see why anyone would honestly care about what someone else thinks of them. (ex: “That guy is too fat to be a bodybuilder.”) Who fucking cares. Its like asking if cheerleading is a sport. My answer? Whatever you want sweetheart. If you want it to be a sport, it is. Chess? Sure. Darts? It’s on TV, it has to be a sport. WHO FUCKING CARES? Is it gonna change what youre doing with yourself? Your goals? If it does, you need to rethink a lot more than just your training.

Now, to answer the question. A bodybuilder is someone who labels themselves a such, or whatever you personally would define it to be. Whatever your little heart desires.

Ha! None taken, brother!

The original question was basically ‘what is bodybuilding’?

I completely agree with your sentiment. It seems futile to have these arguments and get so angry over what someone elses definition of something is. Your passions would be best directed elsewhere. Though it does provide entertainment for the rest of us stoics.

A mustang with 540 HP gets smoked by a grand sport with over 100 HP less than that.

Your mustang wouldnt compare.

Full blooded American… with a keen eye on who drives Vette’s in my area.

Well staying to my point I read what you wrote bc you like you lift and know what you are doing

Cressey lifts big so I’ll listen to him.

My point was more if I wondered onto a yoga website.

A lot of the writers from the past looked the part and had great info. CT is a big guy and an excellent lifter himself, Chris Sugart was fat and got himself lean and is an excellent writer as well, Hell Nate Green started off small and added a bunch of lean mass.
True, but there are more than 7-8 authors on the site. Many of the older authors on the site that wrote great articles didnt really look the part. For every article by Dave Tate or Jim Wendler there are articles by Ian King, Charles Staley, Mike Boyle, etc…

Without knowing Cressey lifts huge one might just look at the guy and dismiss him, but he is one of the best out there.

I’m just saying that just because they dont look impressive doesnt mean you cant learn from someone. You might want to try doing some Muscle Ups, or some Human Flags one day… In which case Als articles will be there. I’m happy about that idea myself.
I found it kind of funny that we were just debating this when the following article was published:

The 2011 gt500 kicked the shit of of the 2010 gt500 on the track too.

Yep. That is what made me pay attention to it. The 2011 and 2012 Mustangs are NOT like your daddy’s Mustang.

Just going to leave that right there and wait for someone to show me an American car that can compete.

^^that thing is horrible looking… Who cares if you have a 300MPH car that looks like a turd on wheels?

I’d rather have a Kia than that thing.

And your mustache is like a turd on your face…

Don’t start none, won’t be none.

LOL!

So THIS is what bodybuilding gets boiled down to? Car talk!

It’s got all the same arguments available.

-Aesthetics versus function
-hp and other specs vs actual performance
-naturally aspirated vs “Enhanced”
-Big muscle and track performance vs everyday task comfort
-pics of wheel or gtfo

Good observation, DD.

You are directing that at the Mustang?

LOL

Little kids bingo my car so I know it looks good to someone.

That term may not be well known but it means when kids point and yell at each other, “That’s MY car!”.

My commet was directed at the stupid Lotus car… DD’s post wast up there when I commented.
