What Exactly Is Going on Here?

Picture of me with Jay Cutler from this winter. Kind of fun to see how huge he is next to me.

He’s announced his retirement a couple of times so who knows. He was 300 lbs at his peak, but weighed about 26O in the spring of 2014 so he’s still a big guy. He’s 5’10 and 41 years old now.
How you doing?

I have much respect for Jay. He was at the top or near it for a very long time. He is not the same size anymore but still looks like he lifts, unlike those other posers.

Lol. So that was your actual issue with these ex-pros?

Maybe I shouldn’t tell you about Flex Wheeler allegedly being so lazy he would fall asleep between sets during his prime…
dt79 wrote:

Actually, I wasn’t completely sure what it was about the pictures at first that struck a nerve with me. I knew that they were shocking to see, to me. And there was something that bothered me about them. (Not like I would lose any sleep or anything. Just a wtf)

At first I was thinking maybe this shows that their approach to how they train is best suited for an assisted lifter. And these showed that to be true?

Maybe another example at how some top level pros risk their lifes in pursuit of fame. When they actually don’t have a love for building their body?

Maybe if you pump enough shit into your ass cheek, you can get swole and then lose it all very quickly?

I have come away with two main thoughts from this thread and the pictures I posted.

 1. I think it would be outstanding if a top level pro retired and safely went to 100% natty and busted his ass in a way to keep as much size and definition as possible. So we could use the data aquired to further our understanding of the art of building up ones body.

 2. The people in the pictures that didn’t stop because of injuries or health problems are posers.

*bonus. Their genetics weren’t that great if their genetics was a factor in them having health issues resulting from their PED usage.

Apples to oranges.

They were top of the line bodybuilders with massive physiques…now, they look like, do you even lift bro.

No matter how people might want to paint it, those images are shocking.

A lot has been said about their lifestyle being so demanding to stay at that size etc etc.

There are many articles written about the lifestyles top level competitor’s live. Yes, it is hard work in the gym, but some of those are competitors that were pro, not struggling to get their pro card, but pros.

I completely understand the strain and not wanting to stay at 3 hundo pounds, but come on man. This shows guys that took to massive amounts of drugs and of course lifting, and diet etc etc. But, massive amounts of drugs even causing their bodies irreversible damage for the pursuit of fame in bodybuilding then when whatever happened just went back to dad bod. Me being all natty has nothing to do with my thoughts. I have nothing against PEDs, I am actually thankful that they were developed/discovered (whatever). I will be going on TRT if and when in my life it is medically prescribed. When I do go on TRT and I will probably slip the old Doc something to try and get a little more.

Your opinions on this thread have been appreciated and they haven’t been minimized by me just because you take PEDs. I don’t give one shit who takes or doesn’t take PEDs.

The reason why I brought it up in my thoughts recap is because we have evidence on what is realistic naturally and we have evidence on what is possible assisted. I would like to see what could be maintained after reaching a point assisted when returning to a natural hormone level.

Thank you! I think I’m about as muscular as I want to be. I would have liked to borrow her lats and triceps this morning when I was making some sad attempts to get muscleups. I’m pretty sure I’m doing it wrong.

To be fair, she looks much better in other pictures where her arms aren’t pumped, and she’s less lean. So much vascularity showing in that after pic. I have quite a bit in my forearms, but I’m not used to seeing it across the delts like that, especially in a woman.

For the sport of bodybuilding, I have invested my money and time into it which goes into the bottom line of their business. And I signed up and got a user name to be able to post on this bodybuilding site which gives me the opportunity to express my 1st amendment right to say what the fuck I want to say on the thread I started.

I have had success in football and other sports. The successes I have had allow me to sometimes go back and reflect on them in trying times or when going after a goal in any field. I have also had success in using some of the experiences I have had in helping me with coaching or training teams to accomplish goals. These teams range from 10u girls softball to a area of responsibility in a fortune 500, multi billion dollar corporation.

I’m sure that doesn’t give you enough credentials to allow me to continue to post my thoughts in your forum. What have you done for the art of bodybuilding or any sport for that matter?

That actually isn’t how the first amendment works. If the US Government was actively involved in stopping you from posting, your first amendment rights would be violated, but otherwise, you aren’t guaranteed any right to express yourself on an online forum.

I hold a state record in bench press in my federation, and I’m tied for the national record in my fed as well. I also have the state squat record in my fed. I have an elite powerlifting total, and I’ve only done 1 meet. Not a bodybuilder though. I just look like one.

Of course you’re ALLOWED to post. I never questioned that right. I don’t know why you’re going in that direction. I prefer that the idiots in the room make themselves known, so keep on posting.

I’m not sure what working for a big company or coaching softball has to do with anything. That’s weird that you brought it up.

You didn’t address anything I said you just came at me with that statement knowing that I would probably respond in some way. Or maybe you just got lucky and aren’t that smart?

I wasn’t going to post my athletic accomplishments because they aren’t important to the discussion. My athletic accomplishments are from years ago. What I posted is what I feel are important from my athletic accomplishments and how I use them in my life. 10u girls softball and “working for a big company” (haha) are the two extremes of many different ways my athletic accomplishments have helped me in my life. That is why I said it “ranged” from.
