What Exactly Is Going on Here?

How much do you think synthol plays a role? Basically all pros use synthol right?[/quote]

I have no idea. In the photos Gunters tricep looks odd to me.

Here is Dorian post retirement. There are plenty of other pics of him out there to compare to as well, but this was a good one I found quickly.

A good example of what coming off and still training hard can do.

Many have touched on it plenty, but I’ll add my 2 cents. The short answer is for every BBer that retires and never lifts again, that’s how many reasons there are:

  • Burnout… living, breathing, and dying by the iron for DECADES, sometimes you just need to move on in your life.

  • Not wanting to be mediocre after being the best

  • Health

  • Priorities: Becoming a husband, father, taking care of sick family.

Do you know if he still trains the same or if he adjusted for being natty? If I remember correctly he had a different approach when competing, can’t remember the specifics. I believe his training put him at a higher risk for injury.

I dont think he adjusted for being natty, but the only real info I’ve been able to find was that he adjusted for his injuries. He trained brutally, and it cost him in the end with some tears, so from stuff I’ve read of his he said all he did was lighten it up and not use so many intensity techniques (forced reps, etc…)

Is Dorian Yates truly ‘natty’ these days? Not even on TRT? (I’m asking, not accusing.)

he’ll be on something, absolutely. Very unlikely he’d have ever recovered his natural hormones after his competing years

I would bet dollars to doughnuts he is on either a clinical dose of T (TRT) or more.

How has nobody recognized that half of these are reversed before/after? I know the source of this, and it’s 90% bullshit. Of course some guys don’t stay big, but this is a farce. I can’t believe this is being taken seriously here, of all places. If they wanted to show a guy that looks like garbage now, they should have picked big Ron, lol. He actually DOES look terrible now. Dorian and Levrone look fucking awesome. And Dorian’s pretty old, at that.

He’s 6 months older than me. :^(

I know the source of it as well.

I think Dorian held up very good!

Kind of a tangent, but do you guys know who this woman is? Is this a legitimate before and after pic?

I did not post the pictures to show a guy that looks like garbage now. I know for a fact that some of them are pictures of when they were competitive and more recent.

I posted the pictures because they are shocking to me. The pictures that I know for a fact are legit are fucking shocking to me that’s why I fucking shared them.

lol, easy tiger.

Nobody maintains that level of physique without constant effort. Why would they make the effort when they no longer needed to?

It’s like talking about how shocking it is that Linford Christie doesn’t run a sub-10 100m anymore

OK. I figured it out. She’s IFBB Pro Shannon Courtney, and I think these are real before and after picture of her, not photoshop. Not sure about the time difference.

I’m used to seeing natural women doing bikini and figure…

Apples to oranges.

They were top of the line bodybuilders with massive physiques…now, they look like, do you even lift bro.

No matter how people might want to paint it, those images are shocking.

A lot has been said about their lifestyle being so demanding to stay at that size etc etc.

There are many articles written about the lifestyles top level competitor’s live. Yes, it is hard work in the gym, but some of those are competitors that were pro, not struggling to get their pro card, but pros.

I completely understand the strain and not wanting to stay at 3 hundo pounds, but come on man. This shows guys that took to massive amounts of drugs and of course lifting, and diet etc etc. But, massive amounts of drugs even causing their bodies irreversible damage for the pursuit of fame in bodybuilding then when whatever happened just went back to dad bod. I think they look like a disgrace to the “art” and further give credit to the sports haters.

Well, I’ve got the before pic nailed… I guess I could double down on the protein powder and see what happens.

LOL! If I mess with my hormones, it will probably be to cope with hot flashes in a few years.

Picture of me with Jay Cutler from this winter. Kind of fun to see how huge he is next to me.

He’s announced his retirement a couple of times so who knows. He was 300 lbs at his peak, but weighed about 260 in the spring of 2014. At that time he said he was planning to move closer to 230, so I don’t know what he weighs here but he’s still a big guy. He’s 5’10 and 41 years old now.
