I’m reading some of your replies and wondering how I am the troll. I’m asking a legitimate question. The word hardcore isn’t the key here. Its the fact that someone can do a workout 6 days a week and then have someone else train with that person and not physically be able to match it. And I’m not talking pure weight wise. Obviously having the weight scale to the strength of the individual.

Maybe it’s because your question is stupid and doesn’t make much sense. Like I said IN MY FIRST POST that you apparently read but didn’t interpret, it has to do with INTENSITY.
Take two guys. Same genetics. Same workout. Same nutrition. Different work ethics, though. The one who BUSTS his ass is the more “hardcore” one. It’s that simple. Plus, ‘hardcore’ is an extremely subjective, and kind of lame word.
You’re trying to make something stupidly simple into something that’s just stupid.
How many times do I have to post… YOURE MISSING THE POINT. I’m not asking for a definition of the word hardcore, or what makes someone hardcore. Its asinine to argue something like that. Did you graduate the fourth grade, stop reading each word and “sounding out” the paragraph, if you took two seconds to read what I wrote you would know that I’m asking what makes a workout so intense that some people can’t physically or mentally take it.
And again, nonstop squats isnt what im saying. I’m talking about a workout that lasts for about an hour to two hours tops and has such an intensity that it is conducive to muscle growth and can be used as a daily training regimen that ALSO cant be handled by some people mentally or physically.
No dude, relax. It’s not that just any old fool can squat till he pukes…fact is 99% of gym goers never will. Or training till you injure yourself. Going with less rest. Going for more sets. More weight. Going when your on 2 hrs. of sleep. Every serious lifter has done it. It’s not about being “hardcore”, thats just a word people like to throw around. It’s more a state of pushing yourself thats above and beyond what other lifters would consider doing. If you’ve ever had anyone quit working out with you, you might be there. then again you might not. And if you are, you don’t care anyway. Because you really know what your limits are.

I’ve noticed in various articles, whether it be here on T-Nation or random magazines and websites, that somewhat frequently, people mention a workout that is just too “hardcore” of a workout for some people to complete. For instance, I was just reading part I of the Training Behind Bars article and it was saying how some of the inmates tried to train with the big guy but after a couple of weeks dropped out because it was too intense.
What does that mean exactly?
Now I’m just going to keep running with the inmate example because for this given moment it is the only example which I have enough information on to suggest a point.
The inmate was saying how he lifted heavy and almost never went outside of the 1-7 rep range. So how can someone not follow along, it is just exhaustion after three hours of non-stop squatting or what? I’ve always felt my workout was not “hardcore” or “intense” enough. So if any of you have any examples of a supposed hardcore or intense workout please share with me. I’m always down to try something that many people can’t do or something labeled as “intense”. I like to test my boundaries and challenge my body.
That means they couldn’t take it; it was “too intense”.
You want an example?
Tommorrow, go do Ronnie Coleman’s routine for Back. That should test you enough.
In regards to training, being hardcore, IMO, means being one to push beyond failure. To push the body beyond its limits. To never settle for anything. Take no prisoners, training. No fear. It doesn’t matter that you might get crushed or might loose it halfway between rep 18 out of 20, you push beyond. You continue pushing because thats the only way that shit will ever change. Just by merely staring at a real hardcore trainer you can tell who is who.
You can see the candy-asses and the hardcore, its that blatant IMO. One of them finishes a set and is completely mentally drained and merely stares of into nothingness waiting for the body to rebound and the other finishes a set and continues on talking without missing a beat. One avoids pain, and the other’s pain is so great he/she goes numb and continues. Maybe thats just me.
Granted, he uses an insane amount of weight for these exercises, he is also Ronnie Coleman. If I used a maximum load comparable to my strength and size and did this same workout I don’t think it would strain me incredibly if at all. Monday and Thursday is a little intense but when you’ve been training as long as Ronnie and take the same things he does I’m sure recovery is pretty quick.

Forget it, the guy won’t listen to logic. Apparently this tool is wondering why some people can work out for 2 hours a day, six days a week. He’s also an “MMA fighter,” and calls himself a “hardgainer.”
I should’ve checked through his post history before I responded, I didn’t even realize this was the idiot who made the “Biceps Won’t Grow” thread.

This should be in the Beginner’s forum.
Good fucking luck, douchebag.
Oh my bad… I forgot that you were the smartest man alive.
Did I say I was an “MMA fighter”? No, I said I train MMA,and yes I’ve also competed. And I’ll be the first to tell you im far from the best and most hardcore “MMA fighter” in the world.
I am also a “hardgainer”. Have you ever heard of these things called Mesomorph, Ectomorph, Endomorph? They are very real.

Nothing drives you harder then needing to be stronger, faster, and better than a real live opponent. At that point, when only victory is in your mind, you will be hardcore no matter what workout you do.
Biceps don’t grow eh? ecto, meso, and endomorphs! and MMA!? Whoa, what pile of pig shit am I about to slosh around in? All I said was what I think is hardcore bodybuilding weight training.
