Kiyoshi,
I’ve heard about “dieting up” a few times now. Don’t really know too much about it but it sounds interesting. Where can one get some more info on it or if you have time could you talk a bit about it? Thanks.
(I PMed you but I figure it would be better here if others had the same question.)

I think your genetics will let you know if you fall into that category. A strict mesomorph can “diet up” to a contest because the worry about fat gain may be much less. Most bodybuilders would have to diet down to have muscle bellies that full on a contest diet. I think I know of only 4 bodybuilders off hand that train that way into a contest. If Flex Wheeler couldn’t even do that, I wouldn’t put bets on too many others (even with great genetics) being able to pull that off.
LOL…I think this is funny, dieting up, dieting down Sheeeeshhhhh…its simple…If you’re putting on muscle and losing fat as you’re getting ready for a competition, that means your starting early on your diet and usually if you gain muscle as your getting ready for the show means that you’re doing it right!
in the off season you’re more likely to gain more fat and not put on as much muscle cuz you’re not being as strict on your diet…most people if they know what they’re doin, they will put on lean body mass if they start dieting 6 months out…which is I think is the right way to do it…

You hit it right on the nose bro!!! when I get ready for shows I diet about 18-21 weeks out. But I am very strict with my diet. It’s really not that hard to put on muscle!!! If you can afford it that is. If you have a meat markets anywhere you live go there and buy in bulk chicken and beef. You will build a repoire with the guys there and they wil see your progress on how big you start to get and next thing you know the meat and chicken get cheaper cuz they hook it up. ya know what I mean.
As far as fish I’m lucky cuz I live near the water so once a motn I will go down to the harbor bout 4:30am when the boats come back in from an all night fishiung tour and they sell the tuna right then and there off the boat so I can get about a 50-60 pound tuna for about $50 depending on if I know them or not, that tuna last for a long time. It’s all afforadable if you know what to do.
In the offseason I eat my hamburgers, carne asada burritos, kripy kremes hmm.

Your very correct not to many can pull it off. Very Few. Only one I know that has done it is Kevin Levrone.

PM, me and I can give you more detailed description of dieting up
Hey man, thats good news on the HOT-ROX. Sorry to have given you a fright - I’d seen a thread on here a while ago stating it was banned. I am subject to IOC standard testing so have to be really careful about these things. Look forward to hearing how you got on with the shows.
