What do you all like to do other than train?

I’ve been playing drums for about 10 years now and love it. If you’re at all interested in learning them, get yourself a kit and take some lessons. I played for three or four years before I got lessons. Took them for eight months or so. I was so impressed with how much they helped me (in fact, learned way more in that 8 months then in all time before then), I told myself I would only continue taking them if I walked out of each session knowing more than when I walked in. After eight months, I was very busy and didn’t have the time to practice like I wanted, so I stopped then. Lessons are invaluable if you can find yourself a good teacher. -Tyler

Actually, I’ve been meaning to comment on your work and Jeff T.'s post reminded me to do so. I was quite intrigued as to how you got started with this. Is there a market for a hobby like this, or is it just for personal interest. I found many of your characters quite interesting and I liked the detail of your work. You made the different figures look like they belong as part of the group. Anyways, sorry for not commenting earlier, but better late than never. Keep up the good work!

I write: www.poetry.com search last name “.” first name “rubberman”. I spelled a title wrong, but I’m sure you figure out what it is.

I like to ride my horse in the mountains or on lowland trails when the higher trails are snowed in. I like to shoot my bow, and my rifle when I have the money to make the ammunition. I downhill ski. I like to go camping, you know, either in or out of a tent sleeping on the ground…real camping, not RVing. I see a movie now and then. I like going to parties and BBQs or having one at my place. I hunt with both archery and rifle for elk and deer, sometimes bear or mountain goats. I like to cook quite a bit too. I used to make beer and wine but haven’t done that in a few years.

I’m going to be purchasing a bow for big game soon. I’d like to solicit your advice, if possible. What do you shoot?

I shoot a Mathews FX, 75 lb. 30 inch draw, left handed model. I’m not left handed, it’s an eye dominance thing. If I had the money I’d shoot the Q2. It’s got the same speed but it’s more forgiving and vibrates less. Most bows now are so short you have to use a release. Finger bows are definitely a minority anymore. I like the single cam design since it’s easier to tune and stays in tune. The two cam designs can get out of time too easily. Other than that just buy a bow that fits you and you can afford. There are a lot of good bows out there to be had. For hunting the simpler something is the better it will work since more moving parts allow for more to go wrong.

well there’s this great lake nearby with a bike trail and i’ve got a major outdoor kick going of late, kayaking, hiking, biking. i also like shooting pool, reading, and old movies. plus, i can’t wait till the sopranos returns in the fall!!!

Thanks SteelyEyes. I was pretty confident that I should go with a single cam and use a release, and you’ve clinched it for me.

Where do yall hunt at?

I used to hunt in Southwestern Montana. I’m buying a bow because big game rifle opportunities in NY state are slim. I might just go the black powder route, too.

I archery hunt for elk in NE Oregon. www.wdc.netfirms.com/gallery/elkme.jpg is a pic of my first archery and my first Oregon bull. I also rifle hunt for elk, deer, and other stuff in Washington. When my daughter gets back from studying in Germany after next school year I’m hoping she can find us a good place to try for mulies in Colorado.

Demo- Consider using a recurve. That’s what I used when I was bow hunting. It’s a fun option.

Already got one! Mine’s a bit too light for big game though. I’m currently stand hunting with it from the back porch. Seems as though a mangy squirrel has taken a likin’ to Miss Michelle’s strawberries. I got subsonic .22 ammo and a rifle handy too. I WILL HAVE MY DAMN STRAWBERRIES!!!

A compound bow is hard enough to kill them with. At least getting them to come close enough. Maybe if I get skilled enough I will try a recurve. Did you ever kill anything with your recurve? Seems like a challenge.

Ask yourself this… which is better? 1. to clean squrril guts off of the garage wall/roof or 2. to buy the strawberries at the grocery store

Let me know... *laugh*

That shtuff is pretty sweet, Matt. What does makin one of those bad boys entail? Looks like a lot of patience and a steady hand are required… Which means I would have no chance…

Jason, many people do make cuatoms and sell them, for me it was a progression of my love for Star Wars and building model kit when i was a boy. When Star wars figures were rereleased in 1995, I found some websites of people who were making figures Hasbro wasn’t. Then I huge rush of books and comics came an I knew Hasbro would never be able to make all the characters that I liked from those sources, so I started making them myself. I appreciate you taking the time to check them out. In faith - Matt

Sorry, I didn’t see your response before. Yes, making the figures requires both patience and a steady hand. But some are very simply head swaps. These are very easy and only require a screwdriver, boiling water and strength. Placing the figure in boiling water softens the plastic, then you just pull off ther heads and using the screwdriver stuff them back into different bodies. Piece of cake (usually, ;p) Thanks for your comments.

Matt
