What Did Jesus Look Like?

He probably looked a lot like the guy in your avatar.

You would have hated him.

Why? I’m sure he would be an ELOQUENT speaker, black or white. I don’t judge people based on their skin color, Harris. Do you?

I judge people not by the color of their skin but on the content of their character. (Wow, that sounds familiar!!)

I doubt he had glasses.

Why start a thread about what Jesus looked like then?

Why not start one about his teachings instead? And I don’t mean another bullshit my-beliefs-are-better-than-yours thread; I mean one discussing the philosophy and ideas behind his message.

Inconclusive.

Its not like they have the original skull to reconstruct what his face looked like.

Maybe portraying Jesus and someone who could be taken for Arabic would lead to more acceptance between the two groups?

If you’d be honest, you’d know he probably would look like this.

lol…I have to agree

That picture from the website is pretty accurate, I would say. Since he was in the Middle East, he would have darker complexion skin, like an Arab.

2 questions. 1.) Why is Jesus always depicted as white? This goes back to being in the Middle East.

2.) Of all the Prophets of God, why is his picture the only picture you ever see of any Prophet? You never see a picture of Prophet Muhammad, Moses, Aaron, Abraham, or any other Prophet. Why is that?

Just curious.

That would just turn into a flame war and I’m never interested in those.

What difference could it possibly make?

It’s the gift inside the wrapping, not the wrapping.

Wow. What a fuckwad you are.

Very likely.

Minus the turban.

I thought he was hispanic?

The literary Jesus or the real Jesus?

The literary Jesus is white. If you doubt me look at any classical painting of him. Since the only knowlege of Jesus comes from a book he is a literary character–just like God–who is also white.

The real Jesus, if in fact he ever really existed probably looked like someone from the middle east with an olive/dark complexion.

Are you really that obtuse?

Jesus was most definitely a dark skinned, bearded man that looked much more like an Arab than an Anglo-Saxon.

Once again, LIFTICVSMAXIMVS, voice of reason.

And HH, if you decided to discuss Jesus actual message, the one about love and how were all brother and sister and turning the other cheek, you won’t be flamed.

But I think you believe his message was something to do with his own divinity, and fire and brimstone, and that very well may start a flame war.

Interesting to ponder what might have happened to Jesus had he been alive in other periods of history, looking like that:

In 1099 AD, he might have been slaughtered by the Crusaders when they conquered Jerusalem.

In 1348, he might have been killed in Europe in the pogroms following the Black Plague.

In 1492, he might have been ejected from Spain by Queen Isabella.

If he was not ejected, then he might have been tortured and killed during the Inquisition.

Between 1859 and 1905, he might have been killed in any of the anti-Jewish riots in the Russian Empire.

In 1942, he might have been gassed at Auschwitz.

And in 2001, he just might have been arrested and sent off for questioning at Guantanamo.

No wonder he’s always depicted as a Caucasian.

You rarely see a picture of Muhammad, because depictions of human beings or other living things are not permitted in Islam. However, this does not mean such pictures do not exist. Here’s Muhammad.
