What Barbell you guys use

I am predominantly a strength lifter. I do not compete in powerlifting, but love the big four.

I just bought a texas power bar and love the thing, but have some other bars for fun.

Just wondering what everyone is using.

Oh man, so many!

This doesn’t quite capture them all (and it’s a 5 year old photo, so sadly my axle has SO much more rust now), but I’ve got

  • Texas Power Bar
  • Texas Deadlift Bar
  • Titan SSB 2.0
  • Titan Rackable Trap Bar 2.0
  • Rogue Boneyard Echo Bar
  • 9" Christian’s Fitness Factory Dual Handle Log
  • Titan 12" strongman log
  • Swiss bar (bought direct from a welder)
  • Ironmind 2" Apollon’s Bare Steel Axle
  • Ironmind Buffalo Bar
  • Rogue 1.9" poweder coated axle

Along with an EZ curl bar and a circus dumbbell…and I’m sure some other odds and ends, haha.

Nice setups, gents!

I have used almost everything, although I don’t lift at home.

I just use a regular power bar for almost everything. I can tell when I accidentally grab the Oly bars and they are “whippy”.

The Safety Squat Bar was valuable enough to me that I actually bought one (the Titan version) to leave at my gym. It is essentially identical to the EliteFTS Yoke bar.

I think the curl bar is way more friendly on my elbows than anything else for curls/ extensions.

I have used all manner of trap bars, but they’ve never been a big part of my plan. I see the value; I’ve just never really made them fit.

I have used a spider bar and really thought it was fun. Less utility than an SSB, so it wouldn’t be on my purchase list.

Similar to the above for buffalo bars and cambered bars - cool, but not high on my list.

I’ve never liked pressing with a Swiss bar/ football bar: the balance always feels off. I’d rather just use dumbbells, although I know it’s not the exact same use case.

I have used a log (and various farmers walk handles - are those in scope?). It was fun, and that’s probably something I would like to experiment with more.

I used an axle at another gym a couple times, but can’t really remember what I thought of it.

Toys!

The duffalo is a game changer for lowbar. So comfortable. I wouldnt give it up. The safety squat bar is fucking nasty. I love it. Thing just tries to crush me. I made a hatfield setup also and it is boosting my squats because i can do burnouts at end of workout.

The swiss bar is fun to press and bench with every great once in awhile, but where it kills is lying extensions rippetoe style. That workout is nasty for bench.

I actually like using oly bars sometimes for deads or some power cleans. Used one for squats for awhile too. Kinda enjoyed the bounce with the weights even though i know you arent supposed to have it

I would love to try a spider bar, too

Titan makes such good bars. That is why i have so many. Very impressed with them.

I made the farmers walk implements. If you dont keep them pushed out, they tear up the legs. They are brutal. Love the things

There was a powerlifter in the gym who would dump the bar occasionally doing squats. He managed to bend a Texas Power Bar. Just enough bend that it was perfect for low bar back squats. It just couldn’t roll down your back and knurled where it set on your back.
