I want to get 95/115 at my next comp Aug 6 at 85kg, and i want to get 100/120 by the end of this year. Longer term i want make a US Nationals qualifying total (253@85 i think) and compete in that event before i turn 35. I turned 32 in May so i need to improve 10% or so for the next 2 years.

Comp bests are 87 and 105, training bests are 90 and 110.
A bit closer now i hit 89 sn and 114 CJ PR Saturday. Maybe i can get 95/120 Aug 6th and up my goals to 105/125-130 end of year.
2 weeks out from comp now. I snatched 95 for a pr yesterday, and got a 115 C&J. I also cleaned 120 but i fumbled the jerk. I think i can get 98 maybe 100 snatch at the comp and 120 CJ. One more training week to go.
I’m a forum lurker who never posts but what the heck…
Baby steps here as well, I just recently found a gym and a experienced man who might be able to coach me but I’m currently out due to a really bad shin pain which pops up every time I squat or do the lifts. I’ve done 80/55 kg’s at 77 without any real technique training.

I’m trying to work on some push presses while resting my leg, I’ll get a MRI soon if the pain doesn’t heal though. Hopefully it’ll heal soon, then I’m looking to get some 5-7 workouts done per week along with starting med school and hopefully looking at a 95-100kg C&J around January next year. The long term goal is then to stay healthy enough to be able to train almost every day.

I went 90 ,95x, 95 and 110 , 115, 120x at my comp. My best total so far. Missing the second snatch messed me up since my current best is 97. I really think i could have done 100. 3rd attempt at 95 was really easy but my second attempt i rushed to get under the bar and didn’t finish my pull and left it out in front.

Right now the Jerk is plaguing me. 115 jerk is easy and i have never missed it and do it with perfect tech. I have cleaned 120 several times and it is not my clean max but i can’t jerk it. For some reason i change my jerk tech at this weight. I guess because i don’t trust my self at this weight.

85kg senior

Front squat over 200 kilos

hm… Mostly I just want to have some fun, and put heavy things overhead. I would like to make the 105kg class, but with my current weight around 115-120 that might be… challenging. I would like to 100/130 by the end of the year. I think I can even make that goal. Also, sign up for my first competition.

Yes, do it. I recently did my first meet. My lifts were embarassing. My coach knew they were light for me, but he told me that my goal for my first meet was to go 6 for 6. That was it, nothing more. I went 6 for 6. Mission accomplished.

My goals may sound a bit dorky, but I’m a masters lifter so I have no illusions about where I can go with the sport. I want to continue lifting and have fun. More importantly, I’d like to see the sport grow in the US. I’m considering running for a position on the Board of USA Weightlifting once a position opens up. I’ve been told it’s very political and a thankless job. I’ll see.

Which Masters class? You could set some US Records!

Peter K best lifter in the 94’s
BS 260 x2
PJ 190 from racks, looked f0cking easy
Block Sn 150
Block PS 130 x2
FS 210 x3

Insane…I have a HUGE moutain to climb to beat him. He is at least 40% stronger and lifts 25% better in comp…

Are you talking of Kirkbride?

If so saw him c & j 184 at the Scottish Districts on Sunday, mind boggling!

Yup. He is an animal. What did he Sn? His best comp total is 335.

Shoot for the stars, get to the moon. It is going to be a hell of a lot easier to qualify for Euro and Worlds then to beat Kirkbride!

Those numbers seem doable, but I also have a mountain to climb to get close. Right now I’m a 105+ but I’m a fat ass. I could easily get down to 94.

He opened at 140 for the snatch, got it, then failed 2 145 attempts. For the c & j he red lighted twice on 185 before getting it on the last attempt.

325 Total, 369.7987 sinclair total.

One hell of an intense warm-up!

Become a national champion, may not be tomorrow, actually don’t know when… But i know i will get there one day…

I’m a 94kg lifter now, in the lat nationals the 1st place in the 94 was won with about a 130 snatch and a 150 C&J… By no i can snatch 70kg and C&J 100kg, both in their “power” version, since i’m still working on technique, after all i only have had like 4 month of training. I have a loooong road adding those 50kg to both of my lifts maybe in 5 years?

work on getting your squat up and improving technique demidevil. As long as you work out hard and smart and don’t get injured too often I’d say 1-3 years.

Not sure doable as a 94…I’m a soft 93kg and if I was to be lean I’d be about 88…may have to end up well in to the 105 to BS 260 for a double…and I don’t think I’ll ever PJ 190…depending on how my Jerk goes as well. I’ll Clean 200 though. Maybe 170 before the year is over? But I have a ZERO chance of Jerking it currently.

Anyway I can keep telling myself I don’t need to be as strong as him to out lift him…I just have to be a chunk stronger and edge him :stuck_out_tongue: LOL.

I say aim high and set a bunch of intermediate goals

20kg per year at least imo for a beginner, but it depends how old you are?

Bros added a lot.

11-16
15/25 or so to now he’s at 85/110 and FS 130, FS 120 x3, BS 145.

He added 40kg last year and so far this year he is up 34kg with 5months left. I reckon 100/120 are not out of the question as well. 115/140 by the end of 2012 either. He is a very slick lifter with a devastating Jerk and obscene training capacity.

3yrs from when I started 15.5 to 18.5 I managed 35/45 to 100/120.

Work on your technique, do all the the bar work, get your squats up and as you get better start to increase the amount of lifting you do from the floor.
