No, I don’t have a Kindle. My local library and I are not on good terms. They banned some books, canceled the Libby app and fired several librarians. When the federal judge told them to put the books back, they threatened to close the library permanently. People protested but it’s only a matter of time before they will say it’s a budget issue and close it because they lost. Sore losers and all that.
Daniel Woodrell - most known for Winter’s Bone that was turned into a movies and was Jennifer Lawrence’s breakout role.
His other books have similar themes.
I am sorry this has happened in your state. I fear mine isn’t far behind.
@cyclonengineer & @The_Myth - one time we talked about Native American/spiritual stuff. Just read The Lakota Way by Joseph Marshall. Very easy read, not entirely “spiritual,” but some great life lessons, taught through the lens of one particular culture. Would recommend. One can probably buy a used copy for $3 somewhere.
First Light by Geoffrey Wellum
Autobiographical account of being a young Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain, thoroughly recommend. Very straightforward, almost naive writing style that gives the story real authenticity.

I have couple on hold by this author but they may be the last. He tells a good story but has inserted his political views in them now. I just don’t listen to books for that.
I’ve wondered about his books. They always get such good reviews. I’m like you though, I came for entertainment, not politics. If I want politics, I’ll just go scroll on FB for a while. lol
Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert K. Massie - Great book about the fall of the Romanov dynasty
Heaven’s Keep - William Kent Krueger
The Nazi Conspiracy- Brad Meltzer
Working on- Killers of the Flower Moon- David Grann.
Second time I have tried this one. REALLY dislike the narration. This could have been a great story but… it’s just too… something. Only two hours left.
I need a good kitty cat cozy! ![]()
I think the movie will be out soon. Looks like it’ll be a good one.
Oh, the story itself was fascinating, and absolutely disturbing. The timeline just kept jumping around. Lots of characters. Three different narrators. I saw a trailer for the movie, looks pretty different than the book.
Daisy Jones and the Six, by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Really enjoyed this!
The Promise by Damon Galgut
I’ve read a few non-fiction books this year but didn’t know where to start for fiction, I usually bury myself in dense things I don’t end up reading but at some point I started reading items from Booker shortlists and winners. Been a great way to get back into books.
