Thanks for the heads up, on stuff I actually read!
Finished Endurance - what a fantastic story - would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who likes a good adventure story ⦠kind of teared up at the end tbh ⦠great read
Recently read
The greatest beer run ever - John āchickā Donohue
And
The boy and the dog - seishu hase
Both were unreal.
Recent listens:
The Last Invitation by Darby Kane
It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover (I need to stop with this author, I keep thinking thereās got to be one that I like but five books later - still no. Do I ever learn? lol.)
A Small Affair by Flora Collins
The Divorce Party by Laura Dave
Such a Good Wife by Seraphina Nova Glass
Lucy by the Sea by Elizabeth Strout
Currently Reading:
Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering
Unintended Consequences by John Ross
I understand this soooo well.
Currently reading Hank Greenās āCarlā books:
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
A Beautifully Foolish Endeavour
I only read these because heās John Greenās (The Fault In Our Stars) brother, but theyāre excellent, especially the sequel (you do have to read them in order). Really thought-provoking and current, he looks at social media fame and virtual reality, and a bunch of other interesting topics, wrapped up in a science fiction-lite style.
I just started reading Solenoid by Mircea Cartarescu. Itās fabulous.
@ChickenLittle @punnyguy recs for a couple good mystery/thrillers:
All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham
and
Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica
I just finished these two, so if youāre hard up for a new read - check emā out!
Thanks! I put them on the holds lists. It didnāt even give the number of weeks, just said⦠several months wait ![]()
Chewed through a couple of CJ Box Joe Pickett books
Stone Cold and Long Range
A little over half way through The Ink Black Heart
@punnyguy
Just finished
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
Took a bit to really get going but once it did I was hooked. Definitely a big set up for the rest of the series.
If you like low-fantasy this is one to check out
I absolutely loved another of her books Priory of the Orange Tree, if you liked LOTR then absolutely check this out. My favourite book of 2022 by far
Because they are that good. lol
The Seven Deadly Innocent Frauds of Economic Policy by Warren Mosler
@QuadQueen ignore that suggestion. Youāll lose IQ points reading it.
I feel like I would learn something if I read this. My āfunā reading teaches me nothing, thatās the point. I definitely donāt want to read something thatās going to give me more anxiety than I already have. lol
@cyclonengineer Well, then Iāll definitely not pick it up. Iām honestly not sure how many points I can spare at this point in my life. ![]()
You would. It explains how the real world works economically and the impact it has on every ones life. Didnāt realize this until I became more involved and started reading and listening about the subject. I would have scoffed if someone told me this a few short years ago. But this book, among a few others, will open your eyes.
And I didnāt mean to directly reply to you. Just the thread.
Just finished:
Vietnam: A history by Stanley Karnow
Reading:
Bitter Fruit by Stephen Kinzer
Gravityās rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
Also picking my way through some new journalism:

Gravityās Rainbow is a tough read but worth it.

We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz
Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda
Someone Elseās Shoes by Jojo Moyes
Currently Reading:
Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason
