Since I last posted:
Finished The Ink Black Heart
Vince Flynn -Total Power and
Lethal Agent
Brad Thor- Rising Tiger (I listen to Thor because it gives me hope that anyone can write a novel and get it published)
Steve Berry- The Lincoln Myth
Tom Clancy/Marc Cameron-
Shadow of the Dragon and Chain of Command
Brad Meltzer- The First Conspiracy
Lincoln Child- Chrysalis
Greg Hurwitz- The Last Orphan
James Rollins second book of the moon fall series. The Cradle of Ice. I just can’t! I didn’t like the first one but, like the author. Took a chance and… nope. Haven’t even finished it.
Then last but not least.
Dempsey by Andrews and Wilson Yasssss!!! Listened to it twice! @punnyguy
Working on The Emperor’s Tomb by Steve Berry
You know I’m gonna have to start with Book One! LOL!
I have them all! Can’t wait until Sons of Valor lll: War Machine comes out in November.
Definitely my new favorite authors.
Currently reading Hip: The History by John Leland.
“Hip: The History is the story of how American pop culture has evolved throughout the twentieth century to its current position as world cultural touchstone.”
It was a random grab from a used bookstore. ![]()
My recent “listening list”:
Our House by Louise Candlish
The Comeback by Ella Berman
Someone Had To Do It by Amber Brown
Don’t Look For Me by Wendy Walker
We All Want Impossible Things by Catherine Newman
The Last Time I Saw You by Liv Constantine
Currently listening to: The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff
Finished the Emperor’s Tomb
Now on to The Maze by Nelson DeMille.
The diary of Anne Frank - by… well Anne Frank
Finalllly finished The Maze. It wasn’t that long but it took forever. DeMille is always unPC, but this one was particularly crude.
Onto The Terminal List and Big Wonderful Thing.
I have watched most of the The Terminal List but want to see if the book is any better.
The latest:
The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston
It’s One of Us by J.T. Ellison
The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth
You Should Have Told Me by Leah Konen
Just starting:
The Protege by Jody Gehrman
Went on a Jack Carr binge.
Haven’t been able to get all of them. They are on the hold list.
And much to @punnyguy disapproval I did not wait to read them in order ![]()
The Terminal List
Savage Son
In the Blood
Book 6 will be released in May. Probably get that before I get the others from the library. Ray Porter is such an excellent narrator of these types of books.
The Wrath of Poseidon Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell
My audio-adventures of late:
The Work Wife by Alison B. Hart
Love In the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson
Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft
Wonderland by Jennifer Hillier
If We’re Being Honest by Cat Shook
Currently listening to: The Downstairs Neighbor by Helen Cooper
@Dani_Shugart - You need to start sharing your reads over here too. The Jewel Memoir is on my list now because you mentioned it in your log. If you’re a reader - please share here too, that way it’s not just mostly @ChickenLittle and I taking turns posting lists. Lol!
Oh my goodness you’re so sweet!
So… about that book: I actually gave it only two or three stars on goodreads. A lot of it ended up being kind of woo-woo mystical self help, along with poetry, and written songs. I couldn’t get into those parts. And there was a lot of it.
I suspect her publisher said, “you need to fill X amount of pages” and she hit that number with a lot of stuff that didn’t resonate (with me at least).
Thanks for that! You saved me several hours of valuable listening time! And, you’re on Goodreads?? I just requested you as a “friend” - so if it doesn’t weird you out, I’ll stalk you over there from time to time. Lol!
I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you… ![]()
Currently reading Stalin: Breaker of Nations by Robert Conquest
I’m really enjoying it, but I wonder if I’m missing some new research by reading an older book (it was written in 1991)
Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar is IMHO an excellent book, the author Simon Sebag Montefiore obtained access to Soviet/Russian archives in the decade after the collapse of the USSR and before Putin closed the down again.
Started the Kenzie and Gennaro series by Dennis Lehane (@punnyguy - in order!). I really enjoy Michael Connolly’s Harry Bosch and Robert B Parker’s Spenser books, so giving this a try.
So far, have read “A drink before the war” and “Darkness take my hand”.
Not bad, not great, may try one more before making up my mind.
Also, read books 1 & 2 of “The Rabbit” series by Antti Tuomainen, very offbeat novels about an introverted, OCD actuary who ends up running an adventure park in Finland - recommend!
Ahh, my karma is now balanced… ![]()
Sounds intriguing. The Spenser series is one of my all time favorites. Have read some of the Bosch books, not all; watched a couple seasons of the Bosch web series on Amazon -pretty good.
My true obsession is fantasy baseball, reading has been placed on the back burner. Youse all are killing me with all these new interesting reads!
