Westside Makes You Sexy

Nice work Git! How did you like the partial DB laterals? I’m getting to be a big fan of partial laterals and rear delt raises.

Thanks ddot.
I like the partials, I think. I’m still trying to find the right weight and range of motion.

For rear delt I’ve been doing mostly band face pulls lately but I like rear delt raises a lot. I’m going to be more consistent with them and switch between lighter (20-25lbs)/ high rep with thumbs facing and heavy (60-65lbs)/ low rep with palms facing.

good job on the weight loss!

part of me feels I should do the same but really I am happy being fat and strong. stuffs face with another croissant

31C? Thats a breezy day.

Thats a freaking lot of volume. You going all BB on me?

So, how come your “fat” looks so delicious and my “fat” looks, well, like fat?

We’re sweating our asses off up here in 31C. Maybe I should take off the parka.

I don’t find shoulder and arm stuff that exhausting )unlike back and leg day) so lots of sets don’t bother me much. Plus I’ve been having a hard time lately balancing work, kids off school, kids soccer and baseball schedules and wife stuff so when I do have a chance I usually add some extra sets.

Yeah x2.

Deads (5s day)
Damn the shed was hot. Very humid today.
275 x 5
315 x 5
375 x 10…was supposed to be 385 (Doh!) but the set felt awesome. Had another 2-3 if I pushed it. Back felt very solid.
Sumo

  • first time in 6 months or so. I need them to help my squat.
  • lifted inside the rack (usually lift sumo outside) which kept me from getting my feet wide enough. Needed another 1" or so on each side.
    315 x 4…almost fell over backwards on rep 2
    315 x 5
    315 x 5…vid.
Pretty tentative and form is kinda crappy but I felt them working.

Leg curls

  • worked up to 2 hard sets of 8

Sled drag

  • most weight I have used so PR?
  • 2 trips forward and backward

Overall, pretty happy with this session.

Great work! Kudos on the sled drag after the session. I’ve taken to doing that too and it’s brutal. Keep it up.

Thanks James. Awesome dead in your log my friend. The more sled stuff I do, the more I like it.

Nice pulls, how big is your shed…maybe building one for my stuff soon.

375x10 very strong!

The inside dimensions of the shed are 13’ x 26’. I am currently 13 x 13 of that for training and the rest for workbench / storage. It’s fine for a rack, bench, weight rack and a DB rack.

If you were going to add other gear like a GHR you will need a a few more square feet.

Thanks dday. Not to sound too dramatic, but in terms of speed and balance that was probably the best dead set I have ever done. I barely have any low back DOMs today. And of course I screwed up the camera so I can’t review it. Honest, the fish was “t h i s b i g”

My next DL day is 405 for reps. I’m a bit tingly thinking about it.

Bench (5s)

155 x 5
175 x 5
200 x 8…1 rep PR
Speed work
165 x 3,3,3,3,3

Pendlay rows
130 x 8
180 x 5
210 x 5
235 x 5
255 x 3 (belt)
220 x 8, 8 (last rep a bit loose)

Incline Bench…need to do these more
135 x 8
155 x 5
175 x 2
155 x 7

The past week was uber stressful and I have high-stakes meetings in Puerto Rico on Monday / Tuesday.

It has been raining all day here and I listened to Pavement and early Talking Heads in the shed. Wasn’t sure if I should lift or start a heroin habit. Lifted. But it was a close call.

just catching up!

gl this week… any time to hit the beach in PR?

thanks MiM. Looks like I need to extend my trip by a couple of days. I’ll have close to zero down time but I did spend a few minutes on a beach taking in the sea air last night . Nice. Overall it’s going well but the real work starts tomorrow.

Missed my daughter’s 9th birthday on Sunday so that’s not awesome.

Awww! My dad missed my birthday for travel all the time growing up, and look how well I turned out! =D

Lol! That’s not funny…its the meds.

Don’t worry, a daddy/daughter day will fix everything upon your return. In the meantime, try to get some more of that beach time, even if at night. A nice cigar and some rum…ah…

Nice DLing, my friend! Great stuff.
