Rep talk interesting to see you discuss, and more so that no increase in weight happens with less weight higher reps. i guess this whole thing IS what works for one doesnt work for another. Now that Im paying attention will be good to see what works for me, so far the rep thing is but its early lol
Im thinking kids are really missing daddy. Enjoy this window of time with them.
Also how you DL and you straighten your legs before the pull, i do that before my Tbar rows.

The kids are at a great age. Old enough have some independence but young enough that they like being picked up for a big snuggly hug.
The leg straightening seems to wake up my hamstrings. Bit of a stretch reflex going on perhaps.

Dog! I’ve been lurking your log. Keep plugging away on the comeback.
Honestly, I’ve been struggling a bit lately to get deads to feel the way I want. Every time I set up and pulled, the weight felt too far forward on my feet and my low back was working too hard.
I just tweaked a couple of things and they were so much easier. I hope to hell I can replicate it.

This I can understand.
I will, on rare occation, get set up just right and everything flies up. But of course I cannot duplicate it for weeks.

You can’t write something like that and then not say!

What were the tweaks?
Nothing major really. But they added up.
head up slightly more to help me sit back more
reminded myself to think of the start as a high squat. The “push heels into the floor” que never really worked for me. Thinking “squat” helps me get speed off the floor, keeps my shoulders and hips rising at the same time, and not pull with my back too soon.
pull “back” into my shins instead of “up”
For the 405 x 4 last week (vid attached) I basically did none of these. Set felt, and looks, like crap.

How do you like the Pendlay’s? Everybody in here seems to be doing them. I’m feeling some pressure to succumb to the groups ways.
I have nothing against BB rows. I like them a lot. Except the Yates style. I can’t get the hang of the underhand grip and the more upright stance.
I treat Pendlays like deads…keep them explosive and I basically just drop the bar from the top and reset each rep. You do need to arch the crap out of your lower back to avoid strain but that is the same for BB rows.
I thought I would feel them more in my mid-back but, surprisingly, they hit my lats quite hard. I had some nice lat soreness after doing them the first time. I think it is the parallel-to-the-floor position.
The Tbars with a close neutral grip and a more upright body position seem like a good complementary exercise.
Hmmm…I bet a complex consisting of deads, pendlays and tbars would be a back fryer. Something like 60% of max for each, 3 reps each, 6 rounds. Damn, wish I had thought of that earlier.

Leg curl…do as many reps with toes pointed and then flex feet to get remaining reps
4 x 12
why point toes?
Pointing your toes takes the stretch out of the calf so it can’t assist as much with knee flexion. Hams are more isolated. Makes a surprisingly big difference. If I can only get 6 reps with toes pointed, and then I switch my foot position, I can usually get another 4-6 reps.
