You guys were right. Box is about an inch high. Circular saw required.
But I don’t think I like squatting to the box for touch and go. Feels weird. We’ll see.
But the real problem is that my squat is stalled and has been for a while. I was thinking about when progress started to slow and had a lightbulb moment. It’s when I switched to conventional from sumo deads. At the bottom of the squat I just don’t have the necessary hip power. Sumos were great squat assistance and meant I was doing a squat movement twice a week.
I’m going to add some sumos on deads day.
Squats to box
95 x 5
135 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 3
No box
320 x 2…felt like crap. Should be able to do 5-6 of these.
Reverse band squats…took about 40 off at bottom and nothing about half way up. These felt awesome. I’ll be using these frequently
320 x 4,4,4,4
Front squat
135 x 5
185 x 3
225 x 2
135 x 10, 10
Good mornings
135 x 6
155 x 6
185 x 6

I’m actually pretty stoked to try Reverse Band squats/bench now. The gym I go to now actually just got a cage yesterday. They’ve only had the squat rack until now so going to be a fun few weeks.
Shoulders +
OHP (3s day)
w/u sets
125 x 3
140 x 3
switch to PP
160 x 3
190 x 0, 0…just too heavy. I’ll back off for a couple weeks.
160 x 3,3,3
135 x 9
Bent over lateral raises
20 x 20
25 x 20
30 x 20, 20
Hanging leg raises + knee raises
2 sets
BB shrugs (high rep)…worst part of shrugs - smashed junk
225 x 15, 15
The ruler all by itself - i have no idea. I’m sure I have to go back a page or two to see what that’s all about, but the scenario in my head is really all i need right now.
Upscale - Woah mama!! You got some nice muscle on you. Many thanks!
Also, Git, I like that “concentrated package” Lol! I call myself “tiny diesel”
Btw, the other day this guy at the supermarket asked me to reach something on the top shelf. Mind you, I’m nary 5’2. We just looked at each other, literally eye to eye, and started laughing. Ballsy little short man! Great pick-up skills.

clicking those pins for depth always seemed to throw me off more than touch-and-go off the box. be interesting to see how you feel about the two[/quote]
I’m not a fan of either to be honest. With pins I usually hit one side first which screws up my rhythm and with the box I’m dropping unnaturally slowly because I know the box is there and I don’t want any impact.
Real box squats, which I have no idea how to do, might be interesting.
Hey Matty, thanks. At the moment I’m kinda stuck between getting leaner for summer (vanity) and putting on some size (uh, vanity). I’m going to try and pull off the miracle of doing both at the same time.
Back training at the commercial
Technically it was DL day but I only do that at home and the boy has soccer tonight. Then I’m out of town for a few days. So, I figured I would do bodybuilding back / arms training. I need more width.

Git, you new avatar is amazing. That’s you now, right? You don’t need any more size for the swimming pool, your arms & shoulders are like 3 normal guys put together. A bit of trimming would look cool, although you’re already leaner than most lard buckets I see hanging out at the pool. I marvel at the fellows who have no problem waddling around with wheelbarrow sized guts spilling over their swim trunks.

Tnanks Cav. Not sure about amazing but I appreciate it. After UpScale’s convincing arguement I couldn’t say no to her request.
I’m pretty sensitive to being soft in the middle (vanity) during the summer so I’ll shed a few pounds. I’ll start with 5lbs and see what that gets me. I don’t want to get to far away from 200 (vanity). I need to ramp up the ab work since I haven’t done much for quite a while.
Plus my wife is an abs fan and it might get me some extra Yahtzee (sanity).

Good luck with that…if you figure out how, let us know!
Avi picture looks great, lots of work to make that kind of progress.
Vanity vs. vanity. Sounds like a no-lose proposition.
About box squats . . . So people use the box as a tap for speed reps? I never thought of that. But I don’t do speed squats. I like the full box squat where the initiation of the lift happens in the hole. But I haven’t done those for a long time.
