I’m coming around to the idea that the only thing I really need to think about is bar speed. If I start thinking about form, or if the weight is on my heels, or how many reps I got last time, or how many I’m supposed to get this time, blahblah then shit goes bad. Speed is my new mantra.
I absolutely agree with this for max pulls. I try to focus on form when pulling reps. But when I’m on the platform, I really am thinking “grip it and rip it . . . fast!”

Nice work.
Beyond the absolute basics, I’m not even thinking form anymore when doing reps. When I think then the reps get slower. Every rep is about speed. It helps that I do a full reset between reps.
Of course, being explosive is old news but it’s starting to gel for me.
Are you using it to hit depth (touch’n’go) or to sit back on for box squats?
How tall are you btw?, the reason I’m asking is that I’m 5ft 8 and my 12" box which I thought put me ‘at’ parallel when I measured it in the mirror, turned out to be a touch high and wasn’t parallel when I actually had weight on my back. I guess we sit down differently with and without weight.

Just saying.
I’m also curious. I’m almost 6 ft with long legs, and my box needs to be just under 12 in to get me just under parallel.
I took some pictures with a bar on my back and the form I want and it looks to be about the right height. We’ll see. 11 inches is definitely lower than I want to be.
I’ll probably use it mostly as a depth check but may do some true box squats for hamstrings.
Squats are next on the menu so we’ll see how they look.
Farmer, I’m about your height.

Listen here, stretch, just because you can reach the olive oil waayyy up on the top shelf at the grocery store, and don’t have to ask the pimply high-school kid working there to get it down for you, doesn’t give you the right to call me “short”. I’m awesome in a more fucking “concentrated” package…mmmk?

With weight on your back your legs are flexed for touch and go’s and take add 2 inches to your height of the sqauts. We actually have the lifters lift ffet off the ground during the sit back prtion of the box-sqaut. We use pins for depth with no box.
You guys were right. Box is about an inch high. Circular saw required.
But I don’t think I like squatting to the box for touch and go. Feels weird. We’ll see.
But the real problem is that my squat is stalled and has been for a while. I was thinking about when progress started to slow and had a lightbulb moment. It’s when I switched to conventional from sumo deads. At the bottom of the squat I just don’t have the necessary hip power. Sumos were great squat assistance and meant I was doing a squat movement twice a week.
I’m going to add some sumos on deads day.
Squats to box
95 x 5
135 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 3
No box
320 x 2…felt like crap. Should be able to do 5-6 of these.
Reverse band squats…took about 40 off at bottom and nothing about half way up. These felt awesome. I’ll be using these frequently
320 x 4,4,4,4
