Wow Git, this is a great log. Heavy ass weights and hot ass women…or women with hot asses. Whatever, great work in here…I think. Honestly, hard to follow the training.
^Thanks embo. Not sure if the weights are that heavy but the ladies are definitely smokin’
Bench
140 x 3
160 x 3
190 x 3
210 x 1
230 x 1
245 x 1…PR +5lbs. Folks that that can put up 300+ (or 1.5x BW +) have my respect.
190 x 6, 6, 5
CG to board (4x4)…first time. I like these.
140 x 5
160 x 5
190 x 4,4,4,4
Incline DB
65 x 8, 6…kinda out of gas
Alt. DB curls
3 x 10
Perhaps you should relocate your log to SAMA?
Naw, leave it here. Just kidding.
I could be totally wrong here but it seems like being a serious bencher requires tremendous genetics. Or maybe I’m just consoling myself.
Looks like you’ve got the bench moving in the right direction. I’m inching towards the 150% body weight bench but its slow as hell going.

Genetics, levers, short arms…I’m looking for any explanation ![]()
Not benching for 20 years probably didn’t do me any favours either. But, the good news is my shoulders don’t feel any worse than they did last year before I started benching.

The only thing slower than my bench is my overhead pressing…lame.
Probably not benching for 20 years helped you by saving your shoulders for your current efforts. Nice PR!
first of all you can talk dirty to me anytime - loved the commentary on the deadlifts.
2nd -I’m surprised you need gloves? I’d assume the cold would weld your skin to the metal and you’d have to pee on yourself to get them free…
Nice PR’s Git, always an inspiration ![]()

Thanks little ms. cute & french.
And I forgot to comment on your “push the earth away” DL visual. That does sound cool. I’m not sure I have the balls to move my stuff and train outside as I’m kinda self-conscious that way. Unless you train with me.
Hey, you should plan a vacation to NS and we can train outside and then have BBQ steak and red wine on the grass post-workout.
yeah, the stupid ass gloves. But the good news is that it felt like spring here yesterday.
The pee thing is not so bad if your bare hands get stuck. Just don’t lick anything metal. Awkward.

I don’t think it’s genetic or levers. I too haven’t benched seriously for ages (10 years, not quite as long as you) because of shoulder pain and that’s why my bench has always sucked, because I’ve neglected it. As of this week I am going to try benching 3 x a week. The most I’ve ever benched is once a week. I’m going to do, dead stop off chest (bottom up) on Monday, lockouts on Weds and full ROM bench or speed bench on Friday. It will be kill or cure. I’m hoping if I do face pulls after every session I can avoid the shoulder pain.
I’m working on the principle that the more you work and focus on a lift the better it gets.
Fingers crossed.

My issue is basically the same as you. Pain = less focus and less frequent training = suck.
I do find dead stop off the chest tough on my shoulders. Similar to bottom-up squats, I can’t find the groove.
Awesome DL man, Im hoping to get some pointers from you once I get a vid of me DLing on my log, be forewarned Im atrocious.
Squats
In the spirit of focusing on those things that you suck at the most, I’m going to switch to front squat exclusively. I have never really done these seriously. Plus I want some quad growth.
Target is 315.
Training:
Worked up to 235 x 5 singles…need to work on keeping arms up and squatting down instead of sitting back. That will take some getting used to. Shaky form.
140 x 3 x 5…breathing is an issue on anything over 5 regardless of weight. Which is fine since I have no particular love of high reps.
Didn’t eat much today so low on energy and this was more of a dry run anyway.

And I forgot to comment on your “push the earth away” DL visual. That does sound cool. I’m not sure I have the balls to move my stuff and train outside as I’m kinda self-conscious that way. Unless you train with me.

I had the feeling your backyard was rather private with those tall trees and all. Regardless an outside workout sounds like crazy fun especially wrapped up with steak and wine.

Oh, it is very private. I’m more concerned about the looks from my wife and scaring the kids ![]()
But I like the idea. I’ll pretend that I’m Arnold training at the outside gym at Venice Beach.

You just bundle Frenchie up and you guys head down to the land of real BBQ and sunshine. Grab Kimba, Steve, Kevin and Maschy while your at it. Will eat too much BBQ, then alternate tequila shots and farmer’s walks.

Easy there, lets not start talking nonsense now.
I didn’t list you because I don’t know where you are from and all of the listed people are from the North East so git could pick them up.
You are ALWAYS welcome… kisses ass
