Congrats on your 10 lbs PR Git!
And I was realizing just how short my arms are while watching that Dimel dead(?) vid you posted and that if I was a boy and doing that particular exercise my junk would be in danger. 0_0

My $0.02 (not that you asked ;)):
Box squats looked great. Do you feel like box squats are more technical than regular squats because it feels that way to me?
You’ve got a 425-435 regualr squat easy.

Deads are OK but BB shrugs are junk tenderizers. Hate those.
I keep meaning to measure my “wing span”. I think I do have pretty long arms.

Thanks, it did feel better at the bottom. And, yeah, the whole sit back thing is a work in progress. I would be interested to see what happens if I could get my stance a few inches wider. I’m at the limit inside the rack.
Next time I do DE box squats I’m going to try squatting outside the rack.
I’m wearing some old, tired Converse One Stars that need to be retired. My feet tend to move around in them a bit. Not sure if I’ll get some Converse high tops next or what. Suggestions?

They DO feel more technical. I think it is the degree of control you have over what happpens during the lift. So much to remember, lol.
I honestly have no idea what my box squat to regular squat ratio is. Guess we’ll find out in a few weeks. I would be real happy with a 425.
Don’t worry, be happy

Words to live by. And if that doesn’t work…booze

I’m not sure about the technical aspect but for me at least I believe I can box squat more than I can regular squat. I am wondering though if knee wraps would reverse that.
good depth on that box squat! dimels were explosive, good work, lots of heavy breathing there
As per the Westsiders, if you deload at the bottom so there is no stretch reflex then the box squat should always be harder. I sure hope so anyway.
So, I’m supposed to do these in a couple of weeks for max effort. I foresee everything being sore. I better have the pins set to save my ass.
I love my high tops! I couldn’t imagine lifting in normal tops, ha.
People keep talking about wreslting shoes though, I dunno. I always thought powerlifters respected thy chucks completely…

Thanks! Yeah, I kind of sound like a freight train. I look forward to getting the stereo set up again so people can’t hear me.
But how will we hear the pep talk or whatever it is you do before the big lifts if you get a stereo?
I put on my chucks yesterday during an emergency plumbing project at home, after almost a year of not wearing them. And noticed that my ground feel and grip on the floor was markedly worse than with my Vibram Fivefingers Komodosports.
Maybe you’d lose your powerlifting cred by wearing monkey shoes, but at least try them on at a store to prove me wrong.

Are you serious?
I’d need a stand by medic before I tried those.

Not sure I’ll be going for a 1RM on something I’ve never done before. Maybe a 3RM. Not sure what the advantage is over a GM since I can squat more than I can GM.

I’ve considered the monkey shoes, NB Minimus, Oly shoes and Chucks. Can’t decide. I need something that I can push out on (spread the floor).
