Were Women Ever Oppressed in the US?

I would have to say no. I guarantee you if you could build a time machine and go back 60 years to 1951, about 20 years before the feminist movement was in full swing, and you could ask the average 21 year old woman if she felt oppressed, she probably would say “what the hell are you talking about? Im happily married!” Thats right, happily married to her 31 year old husband (yeah I know, she only thinks she’s happily married because he’s manipulating her into thinking that just by virtue of being older than her, probably because he can’t get a woman his “own age”…/sarcasm).

Now fast forward to 2011 and ask her 21 year old granddaughter/great granddaughter who’s a women’s studies major at the local university is she oppressed. Of course she’ll tell you that the evil patriarchy is holding and that you’re somehow raping her or supporting rape or something equally as goofy by even asking her is she oppressed.

Women were never oppressed in the US and everyone knows it. In 1912 (during the prime time of so-called oppression for american women) when the Titanic was sinking and there wasn’t enough life boats to go around, I recall reading that women and children got first priority on the lifeboats, and then, if there were any left, men could get on. Otherwise, the men had to just sink to their deaths in a cold, watery grave and have their corpses eaten by various sea creatures. Woo hoo!! Male privelege!

I want proof you are who you say you are. Pic of your brown skinned hand holding a piece of paper saying hey T-Nation this is clip11 I’m really not HeadHunter or some other troll.

I think everyone should demand this of you before we continue to engage you.

It’s not that hard to prove you are at least who you say you are without revealing any personal details about yourself.

I love making sandwiches.

I just had a great training session! am going to the beach for a surf.

“Hey, do you feel opressed ?” may very well be a good pick-up line, but … seriously…

And I have pics on my profile hub if you’re interested.

If feminists think they are being oppressed, maybe they should move to Pakistan or Egypt for a year or two and then get back to us. I bet you they’ll literally kiss American soil.

“I love peace and quiet, I hate politics and turmoil. We women are not made for governing, and if we are good women, we must dislike these masculine occupations. There are times which force one to take interest in them, and I do, of course intensely”

" I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of ‘Women’s Rights’, with all its attendant horrors, on which her poor feeble sex is bent, forgetting every sense of womanly feelings and propriety. Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to ‘unsex’ themselves by claiming equality with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings, and would surely perish without male protection."

Queen Victoria 1870

Everyone is oppressed. It’s all a matter of degree.

The pics in your profile look like what you have described yourself as. And seriously I’d like to find out you actually are who you say you are, because if you are not HH, I, personally, think you are probably NOT a troll, and are just a very sincere if sometimes a bit naive guy.

So please, make it a favor to us (and yourself, look at the lack of seriousness your threads are treated with recently). You have a camera phone. Just write a quick note to us including the words T-Nation and today’s date on a piece of paper, snap it in the bathroom mirror (you don’t even have to write it backwards, we’ll work it out) and make sure to include yourself who is the guy in those two pics in your profile. If the bathroom is the same, even better.

This simple, quick act would shut a lot of people up about your identity, including me, though you have seen me take your side…in part at least…in a number of your threads, so you can take this at least as evidence that I am not just f-ing with you.

You spend so much time and, if you are for real, passion, in these threads. If you are for real I think it is a shame that you are no longer being listened to because we have all collectively decided you are HH, f-ing with us.

And if you aren’t, well, consider this the last time you will get the slightest amount of sympathy from me or anyone else who knows you here.

Having trouble making an intimate connection with a member of the opposite sex??

I dunno prior to 8/18/1920 I’d say it was obvious they were oppressed which would certainly argue against never.

You forget about that pic, clip?

Haha.

Queen Elizabeth I is the reason Britian is still on the map today. Good thing she didn’t subscribe to the ideas of those who came after her and managed to defeat the entire Spanish Armada.

I agree that women shouldn’t fight. War in general is not cool and if we can keep any humans out of it, even using sexism or whatever you want to call it, so be it. How is it progress to subject more people to that? I feel torn between equality ideals and compassion.

I think you’re muddying the waters here.

There is a difference between equality in dignity and equality in make. A bear can shit in the woods, so can I, I’m still inherently better than a bear. Coming down to the level of man doesn’t make a woman equal, it makes her less.
