When measuring your bicep, is it supposed to be done with the arm extended or in the “L” flex position but unflexed?

Do you people even read threads before posting? This has been answered already. No biceps measurement is given with the arm outstretched. Ronnie Coleman claims a 23" biceps. If you think that is an unflexed measurement with his arms straight at his sides you don’t know much about bodybuilding.
thanks for the replies…so to sum it all up, bulk up then diet period

As a general rule of thumb of mine all body parts should not be flexed when measured aside from your arms, because hell, your always flexing them anyways. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this same philosophy a lot of other places too.
I would agree with that. But a flexed arm at 17" with average bodyfat just doesn’t seem THAT big.
(I guess if you are ocn2000 it would be)
If you are 5’5" it would be pretty big. You would also have to take into account the general size of the rest of the body. [/quote]
I think that’s true, especially wingspan. I’m 5’4 1/2 and I have short arms even for my height. My wingspan is 65". (Most guys’ wingspans are a few inches more than their height.) I’ll keep trying to add mass anyway obviously but I realize my limits are probably lower than an average 5’10" male with a 74" wingspan.
