Edit: Replace every instance of ass kicking with rape and this post makes a whole helluva lot more sense…

So I am an avid gym goer. I’ve been hitting the iron for 6 years in November, ever since i was 15. My friends are in and out of exercising. They usually exercise more when we’re all home from school, such as the summer time. I outweigh one of my buddy’s by 60 lbs of muscle and he struggles to bench 150 for reps, doesn’t do anything else, just “benchin and curlin”. But yet he keeps on insisting he could beat me up in a fight haha.
We’re just playing but he always saying things like, “I could take you down, I need to workout today, I havent worked out in a few days, your not so tough” etc. I usually just laugh and go about my business but it gets annoying. Any of your buddies ever give you shit like this and what do you do about it?
Well if he’s saying it all the time then he’s obviously looking for trouble, so you need to give him that trouble and make him wish he had kept his mouth shut. Next time he says it you need to take him up on it and beat the shit out of him if necceessary.
So if he says “I could take you down” you need to say “come over here for a minute” (To get him out of the public view so there are no witnesses and you can deny it when he inevitably tries to sue you). Then ask him to repeat what he just said and go from there.
A good ass kicking solves a lot of problems.
Yes rape does make more sense on second inspection.
So to the OP, next time he talks shit… pack his shit!
LOL
I get this from friends that dont train all the time. You know how I habdle it? I do not fight them, I make fun of something they like. That’s how friendships work. The best ones are built on making fun of each other.
Are you sure you arent just being sensitive?
Professor X wrote:
I can’t say I ever got much shit from people I actually called friends. They might make a joke or two about protein shakes, but that’s it. They have actually been pretty supportive.
I think a lot of young guys can’t tell who their friends really are yet.
I’ve learned you figure that out real quick later on once real life hits and bills need to be paid.
I would also say that for most guys under 25, the people around you are likely there because they get something from you…they aren’t “die hard friends”. Your real friends are the ones you may not see in ten years but would buy a plane ticket to help you if you needed it.
This. Didn’t realise it until maybe a year and a bit ago. Has taken a while to sift through the ‘bullshit’ so to speak, but I think I’ve now settled on a small selection who I will keep contact with going forward. Others who I’ve been friends with from elementary school through high school and into now, I’ve maintained ties but loose ties - sort of to say they have potential to be a good long term friend, but they need to settle the fuck down before they get this consideration from me. A lot of things changes between ages 15 and 25. Killed me at times to cut contact with some people, but looking back I definitely don’t regret it. Changes you for the better.
Once people start to earn a living, start their careers, start families and so forth things change pretty rapidly.
Maybe it bothers you because you really cant fight? Are YOU insecure?

This. Having kids is a huge social change (for most), even more so than getting married. Friends without kids will tend to naturally gravitate away and the people with kids generally will gravitate towards kids’ connections.
We even experienced this with moving our kids to a different school. Even though my kid still keeps in touch and plays with the other kid, the parents have taken on a noticeable indifference to ‘hanging out’. Not so with the others. Peeps is weird that way, I guess.

Your buddy is a bitch. If you can kick someone’s ass, you don’t make a point to tell them or anyone else that. Time comes, you just go to business and go home. I’d put money on it that he’s got some deep seeded self-security issues.
Speaks highly of himself, but doubts himself. I got plenty of friends like that too. Loose ends in life bro.
Also, may I say I’m surprised how this thread went considering that the OP is new and his second post in this thread is something about him being accused of steroids.
I’m proud of you T-Nation!
(Though I would like to see pics of the OP)
You could always get 2 pairs of gloves and 2 mouthpieces and actually fight it out. Bet one or both of you back out of it. If you do it, have a friend video tape it and upload it to youtube. Should be funny to watch considering both of you can’t fight and throw punches like girls.

Im disappointed.
You all are telling him to fight his friend over a joke? You are telling him he doesnt know who is real friends are over a joke? That is ridiculous.
Any response other than questioning whther or not this dude can actually fight is off. If you can lay someone out you know it and nothing anyone says will shake your confidence. I think OP is afraid of his friend.

My post is about how to deal my friends being insecure and making ridiculous claims. Nowhere do I write that I am afraid my friend and I will not my fight my friend. I guess my post is more a rant than anything else. I will have pics to follow

Our friends say shit about us all the time and would do so whether we lifted or not…that’s how it goes.

Really didn’t think it would be necessary, but to point out the obvious (which I am positive you are aware of) … some of the other posts were targeted at the general notion of ‘negative people’ who bring unnecessary shit to the table at one’s own expense. Not just explicitly about the original post subject.
If you are fine with people like that around ya, cool … more power to you. I personally have better things to do with my very limited free time than listen to unnecessary stuff that just strokes the ego of another person.
(yes I am an uptight asshole) =P

Well said. I was speaking about life in general, not just the OP. If you want to excel at anything, wasting your time pleasing people who don’t have your best interests in mind will hold you back. I personally don’t have friends who make jokes like that…because they know I’m serious about this. I guess if you take what you do as a joke, others will too though.
Nevermind…
Y’all are right. Friendships are to lack all emotion
In life. Comedy at the expense of friends and family does not exist.
Smiles are irreslevent
I’m planning plastic surgery as I type this to put a permanent scowl on face
People will know that I’m not to be fucked with on my pursuit to dominate the galzy…
All who smile shall kneel in their own vomit before me
My child will only receive frowny faces in school when she excels…that’s just how we roll
Death to those who oppose, even in jest…condemn them to be be impaled
When they are impaled lay them at my feet so that I can eat them to fuel my fires so that I may carry on my battle against the opponent…
Only RAMPAGE
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
Well this would be my first post, but I really feel the need to comment on this.
Your buddy is not attacking you because he honestly thinks that he could beat you up. The problem is that your getting bigger and in better shape because your consistently going to the gym (and he is not), and he is realizing this and feeling insecure in light of you. He’s just projecting his feelings of inadequacy. Yeah its annoying, but when you break it down, its actually a compliment to you. Your success is making him feel this way.
