Weight Set-Point

Hey guys,

From what I’ve been reading on here, you can make your body adjust to a new weight set point. And it’s important to do this before you decide to lean out so that you preserve as much muscle as you can. My question is how long (roughly) does this usually take? Obviously, everyone is different and all, but I’d like a ballpark.

And if my rationale for why making your body adjust to one w/r/t preserving muscle mass is wrong, yell at me for that, too, please.

At least 8 weeks. Re-setting your set point is crucial.

The reason “bulk and cut” got a bad name was because here is what a “bulk and cut” cycle would look like:

  1. Three or four weeks of eating big.
  2. Bottom layer of abs disappear.
  3. Freak out.
  4. Go on super-strict diet.
  5. Lose all of the fat and muscle gained.

When the person who lived his entire training life like that never made any gains, he concluded that bulking didn’t work.
