Weight Loss Question

A little history, for the past year I have been tweaking my diet and have tried a few different routines trying to find what works. I have been on my current routine for about 8 weeks now and am seeing good gains. This year I when from 191 to 202 and have even dropped an inch in my waist.

Just to give a little insight before I pop the question, I was working out of town last week and did not lift much, 2 days out of 7. I was keeping up my daily 3500+ cal diet with the intent to work out each night. But I when I weighed in yesterday I had dropped to 195. I was pissed, I worked hard for those 6 lbs. A buddy recommended including BCAA’s and glutamine into my diet to help keep me anabolic when not lifting.

Here is my question, did he give me good info? I have read elsewhere that glutamine is pretty well useless if on a proper diet, and that BCAA are most beneficial when cutting which I am not doing. Thanks in advance.

I read that BCAAs are good for cutting and losing the visceral fat in your core with intermittent fasting. Not sure about the others. He may have been fed wrong info. (Maybe I’m wrong).

I wouldn’t sweat it. A couple of big meals/trips to the buffet and you’ll be golden

Glutamine is not useless, just not useful in helping you stay “anabolic.” If taken orally almost all of the glutamine will go to your intestinal cells and kidneys. This isn’t all bad as it will help rebuild your intestines which can be damaged by poor food choices, toxins, eating disorders, etc. You are what you absorb as the new twist on the old saying goes so a healthy digestive system is a plus. As for helping you build muscle, you would need to dose such high amounts of Glutamine that it would be one of the most expensive over the counter supplements I can think of.
