Weight Lifting Computer Program

I have been working on a computer program for tracking lifting progress. I have not been satisfied with any thing that is out there. It will run on the Palm, PocketPC, and Windows. It will track measurments, workouts, max sets, max set calculator, and other statistical reports. Any body out there have an interest. I don’t plan on charging for it in its first few versions. But eventually I will integrate nutritional analysis and when it fucking rocks I will charge a small amount. Anyway, any suggestions that you have would be helpful or things you keep track of or wish you could would be appreciated. I love t-mag and want to provide some high tech to the weight lifting scene. Sorry for the long post, but us computer geeks are hard to shut up.

I’d be very interested. I also found nothing that fit my needs, so I’ve just been using a spreadsheet on my PalmIII to do my recording.

Will it include a place to key cardio? If so, a field for time (obviously) and speed/resistance would be nice.

Also, body weight and bodyfat %… not BMI, I HATE that. Keep us updated on it’s progress and if you set it up for download somewhere (like T-Mag… whad’ya say, Chris, TC, Tim?), let us know.

I’ve found software that I liked for weight training and some for cardio, but non for diet, really as they are all based around that screwed up food pyramid and try to tell you how much of what to eat instead of letting you design your own diet. A complete package would rock. If not one application, then two, one for diet and one for weight training/cardio.

I guess you don’t serve my kind?! Man does not live

I love the mac. It is the only real computer out there. My goal is of course to port the program over to the mac. I have almost finished writing the PocketPC version. It will allow you to track your entire fitness on that little geek machine. I have started the windows version. It will mimic the PocketPC one at first. You will be able to enter information on either platform and then sync the databases. I then plan on porting a slimmed down version over to the palm operating system. That will sync with the PC version, but it won’t be as extensive as the PocketPC version. Palm don’t have quite the power needed to support the program. I would love to be able to write the program for a mac, but need to educate myself some more on how to program for the mac OS. I do this in my spare time, so you know… Maybe someday I can hack a living off this program… Anyway I will keep you all updated. thanks for the suggestions.

Send me your source code

but seriously, I am woring on doing the exact same thing but an ON LINE version, why sell software like potatos when you can just run it from a website OS independantly?

Tracking volume (total weight lifted), time of workout, and density (weight/time) would be great… Also, how about keeping track of time under tension (would be pretty easy if you let users enter in tempo). Good idea making it available for the Palm. Good luck and keep us posted.

i found this site with something similar to this computer program. http://www.pssmax.com

Warning about that website… I checked it out and A) He wants way too damn much for a program that he doesn’t thoroughly explain or give a demo download of, and B) I found this paragraph on the main page “UPDATE: you are lucky to read this website just in time - so you can profit of this very special marketing test: the price of $97 is valid till midnight on August 23, 2001. I do this to discover whether the increase at sales compensates for my lower profit margin. In any other case you have to pay the normal price of $ 197. So expect to pay the normal price if you visit again after this date.”

What's wrong with that? The fact that their website says if you order by "August 23"... view the source for the webpage and search for "August 23".. you won't find it... why? Because there's just a variable in the code that says something to the effect of "insert variable X, based on the current date." If you check the same web page in 48 hours, I will say that to get the special deal you MUST order by "August 25". I know this is a little off topic, but it's dishonest scheistering. Just like a TV commercial advertising a mail-order product that says "order in the next TEN MINUTES and you'll get....", they don't know EXACTLY what time that commercial is even going to air on the different local network affiliates & time zones, they only know the hour, or at best, which commercial break.

Just like the supplement world, if I see ONE dishonest/misleading thing about a company or their advertising, I'll never support them again. There's already too much of that crap going on and it seems to just be getting worse, thanks to the internet. This isn't a plug for Biotest at all, but for those of you who haven't tried their products, they work just like they are supposed to and the quality is top notch. They aren't the only supplement company that both of those statements are true about, but they are one of the few.

Back to the software that this whole string is about: NO PALM PILOT SUPPORT??!?!?! AW MAN! Dang it! :-(

Thank you for keeping my kind in your thoughts : )

GOOD JOB MAN; nice detective work! ::::----::::

If you are looking for something to mimic the nutritional side of it, i would check out the crosstrainer program. That thing is the shit when it comes to tracking cals, but it ann’t worth a damn when it comes to the training asspects. …
