Hello, I am 6-2 175lbs, lookin to get to about 195 or heavier. The weight training i do now is fairly intense, i eat properly have seen significant results but haven’t gained any lbs. I have been thinkin about a weight gainer, should i use it, which weight gainer would be good? tnx i know u guys can help me…
Try doing a search for “Massive Eating” by John Berardi on this site.
I would stay away from the weight gainer. Try some of the shakes you can make with some protien powder. They are pretty good and way better for you then the weight gainer.

The no kiddie weight gainer is my favorite
Read and learn, Grasshopper.
I use Mass Maker by BI.
Serving Size: 3 scoops
Calories: 270
Total Fat: 1.5
Sodium: 140
Potassium: 300
Total Carbs: 43
-Fiber: 0
-Sugars: 2
Protein: 20
It tastes great and has an excellent amino acid profile as well. Oh yeah, I don’t work for BI.
“Weight Gainer” - Take any protein powder or MRP like Grow! and add natural peanut butter and skim milk. You can get around a 900 calorie shake out of this and it’s better quality than buying a so-called weight gainer product, which are usually just loaded with sugary carbs.
Hi, mcnabolous. I can see you’re new to T-Mag. As I would expect from the questions you’re asking, you’re getting lots of recommendations to READ the archived articles and to USE the search engine.
There’s great stuff here online. There’s information about nutrition, workouts, supplements – all the things that will help you achieve your body composition goals. Back up a bit and start reading the articles (Previous Issues). As you have questions, use the search engine (selecting the forum or the articles in the drop-down window). You’ll find the forum to be a tremedous interactive resource once you’ve done your homework.
My personal favorite? Do a search on Berardi and read everything the man’s ever written. Taking a weight gainer is going to lighten the weight in your pocket more than it will put weight on your frame if you don’t have your diet dialed in.
Good luck to you, and we look forward to your participation.

That weight gainer has a low amount of Carbs (270_) and only 20 grams of protein. Not too effective…

They call that the mass maker? It only has 270 calories per three-scoop serving…and it has 40+ grams of carbs and only 20 grams of protein? That’s WEAK!
Classic Grow! has 300 calories per three-scoop serving and has 40 grams of protein and about 25 grams of carbs.
Either way, I wouldn’t call them “weight gainers.”
Check this weight gainer recipe from an article in the archives.
The “No Kiddies” Weight Gainer
Most so-called “weight gainers” on the market are nothing more than sugar mixed with some poor quality protein. Kid stuff, in other words. The one below has almost no sugar, but is instead packed with high quality protein, healthy fats, and carbs. You’ll get around 835 calories and 84 grams of protein per shake. “Hardgainers” no longer have an excuse. Just toss back a couple of these a day, lift hard, and get ready to grow!
2-3 scoops Chocolate Classic Grow!
20 oz (2 1/2 cups) of skim milk
1/2 cup of low fat or fat-free cottage cheese
2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter
Blend Grow! and milk until smooth. Add in additional ingredients one-by-one and continue blending until smooth… You’ll think you’re eating a creamy dessert. And don’t worry if you don’t like cottage cheese. We don’t either, but it makes a nutritious, casein-rich base for a lot of these shakes and you can’t taste it once you add the other ingredients.
Note: Want to bump up the calories even more, ya skinny bastard? Add a couple of tablespoons of heavy whipping cream, just like the old timers used to do
