I’m in the same boat (maybe. as being a small guy who a few months ago decided to get into this stuff), SO while I may not have a lot of expertise I can relate to this starting pt.
What I’ve been doing (and gotten some results, could be more, but I’m not unsatisfied with them) is… first priority, make sure you’re eating enough. better to eat something dirty than nothing or not enough. that said, try to eat as clean as you can if possible, avoid obvious shit like cake and soda, but always pick something over nothing.
I really haven’t found it too hard to adjust to eating more or ever really had to “force” in calories, despite being an extra small dude who hadn’t gained a pound in several years. Just adding frequency and choosing productive foods/avoiding being overly cautious of “clean” has been sufficient so far.
I’ve also progressively been adding “staples” to my diet - stuff that I will add in and eat every day at various times. Think less about individual meals, more about stuff you can eat consistently. Couple eggs here, sandwich here, shake here, and it just adds up. It’s almost to the point where the only variable is dinner which is still always something decent. If I feel like I need to start eating some more or I’m not gaining as much as I could, I find another staple to add. I’m pretty confident that this method is going to work fine for quite awhile. This might work for you - eat totally normal (whatever that means right now), just adding something that you will also eat every day… and then another thing… etc
