I’ve a question regarding weight cutting. I’m wondering what is typical for “elite” lifters in terms of how much water weight the cut for same day weigh ins, and day before weigh ins.

5% of bodyweight within the last couple of weeks or so, and 2-3% within the last week is reasonable. Easier on a 24 hr weigh in for sure.
Mark Bell has mentioned cutting as much as 12-15lbs for a 24-hour weigh in, but he’s much more comfortable in the 8-10lbs range, which takes him from 250+ down to 242. 2-3% would probably be safe margin to cut without stepping into things like powerful diuretics, which are probably going to hurt your strength levels more than competing in the lower weight class would be worth.
Depends on how good you are it. Dan Green with a 24 hour weigh in cut from 255 to 219 is 6 days for RUM7. Then competed the next day at 256 and smashed 2 world records in the weight class. I have dropped 20 with zero affect to strength levels. As for same day weigh ins your kinda screwed.

I know some people think its a pain in the ass, but this is exactly why I like same-day weigh ins. Obviously Dan Green and everyone else is just doing what is within the rules they’re playing by, I just know I’d rather not compete that way if I didn’t absolutely have to.
Just one of those things man.
Its part of the game, absolutely. I’m just glad there’s alternatives.

What the hell?
He seriously dropped 36 pounds in 6 days and gained back 37 in 24 hours?
I’ve dropped 10~ just going low carb/Ketogenic for 5-7 days and then returned to normal strength after a carb up, but only with about a 5~ immediate gain from water weight and glycogen stores. 36 is insane.
Yep, two hour weigh-in window morning of competition is definitely more difficult to cut much without losing strength. But I can’t believe Dan Green skipped right over 242 to get to 220. That’s insane.
