!!Weighlifters Shoulder!!

I have been diagnosed w/ an injury called acromioclavicular joint arthrosis (also know as weighlifters shoulder). Its a very deep and sharp pain in the front/top part of the shoulder. I was wondering if anyone here suffers from this as well. If so what have you done or do you do to help deal w/ the pain or even heal it?

Thanks
D

Its weigh"t"lifters shoulder. Sorry.

I was originally diagnosed with an AC problem, but other doctors opinions (and MRI, x-ray and ultrasound examinations) failed to confirm this, - so maybe get a second opinion ?

However, in spite of never getting pinpointed exactly what was wrong, 10 months of electrotherapy performed by a physical therapist got rid of the pain for me…

I’m curious about this as well. I often get pain in the top front of my shoulders if I am doing alot of heavy dipping. Usually I just back off and switch up exercises for awhile and it goes away.

tTere are certain exercises that bring this on: Barbell Bench Pressing-Dips-Behind the neck Pressing and some others.

Remove the source of agitation as soon as possible and you have a fighting chance.

Search the archives for A.R.T. - Active Release Techniques. It has worked wonders for my bum shoulder.

ditto on the ART

I had A/C joint problems in my right shoulder. through x-rays found that the ends of the 2 bones were arthritic, the ends extremely rough. Went to a good Ortho., had the ends shaved back. He went in arthroscopicly, only 2 small incisions. 2-week layoff, 4-weeks rehab, personal best bench in a powerlifting meet 3 months later. If you choose to get it fixed surgically, make sure you get a doc who specializes(or at least deals with many) in athletes.

Good luck,
Don

Do some shoulder prehab (or rehab) routines. There are a few in the archives. I started doing them months back along with overhead figure eights and my pain went away.
