I was just about to post and bust your guy’s balls for no posts on this fite.
I am dvr’ing it as we speak. The weather up here is too nice to miss the sunset and some beer drinking time so I will head up around 10 and watch Torres do his thing.
Not enough people are talking about this guy. He’s an incredible fighter.
Wow, I was wrong on most of my picks…there were a LOT of upsets.
In the Torres-Bowles fight, I thought Torres came out looking sloppy. His standup didn’t seem to crisp and he was pushing the action a little too hard that early in the fight. When he got dropped the first time, I had a terrible feeling that Torres was going to be in trouble this fight. I really don’t think he won a minute of the fight up until he landed the flurry on Bowles that had him backpedalling.
Bowles has some heavy, heavy hands. I was dumbstruck when I saw Torres wither from that right hook, but I thought he would recover on the ground. But no, those lefts knocked him out cold! To me, this was a little reminiscent of Serra-GSP I. I didn’t even give Bowles a chance coming into this fight, as I thought Torres was unstoppable at this weight.
dang…i didn’t think anyone would take Torres either. and Bowles took some really good shots to the melon, so he definately earned it.
i thought the Curran decison was BS. it just kinda shows that JJ doesn’t really win points with the judges. i talked to him one time, and he said that this is always an issue for him…something to the effect that he’s so comfortable on his back, and that he spends too much time there.
all in all, i still enjoy watching the WEC fights the best

I counted, and Bowles landed 10 solid, clean unanswered shots, with a few more glancing. Pretty sick explosion considering he was on the ropes, so to speak, backpedalling and all.

No,his mullet was uneven…that’s why he lost.
Not just any mullet… a meximullet. That’s the Pabst Blue Ribbon of Mullets right there.
Now that’s funny. I don’t care who you are…
He looked just awful. I was stunned. I rewatched it over lunch and don’t feel any better.
Here’s a question. How deep of a class is that, really? How many post adolescent men can cut down to 135?
I don’t mean to take anything away from these guys but when you get a 7-0 guy just demolishing a 36-1 guy, you have to kind of scratch your head and say, hmmmmmm.

I consider Torres to be a really tough kid.
WTF happened?
the better fighter won that night…(shi)it happens.
He got caught on the button pushing forward… Why is it so hard for some of you people to understand? Come rushing forward at me and let give you a bomb square on the chin…
As soon as he dropped him, he landed some nasty shots on the ground.

That sounds great and it’s easy to armchair quarterback but he was heralded as one of the most well rounded fighters in MMA.
Looking back and thinking about his last 5-6 fights it was hard to disagree with that.
I just wonder about the real depth of that weight class.
I consider Torres to be a real skilled boxer. He got fucked up bad. It was amazing.
Keep in mind, I understand how anyone can be beat but think about A. Silva getting demolished like that.
I don’t see it happening.
I love the WEC. Think it is a great fucking league but am just amazed by how quickly he was dispatched.
