Shame On You Combat Sports Forum

Shame on you guys…all these infinite-arguing threads and nothing on tonight’s WEC and Strikeforce cards…??? Give all things Pudz and gun violence a break…lol. I’m just pickin at you guys…but I am surprised that no one mentioned two decent MMA cards happening tonight.

Anyways,if anyone is out of the loop as to what is going on:

WEC 45 - Cerrone/Ratcliff Matchups(Versus channel):
Donald Cerrone vs. Ed Ratcliff
Anthony Njokuani vs. Chris Horodecki
Joseph Benavidez (No. 6 BW) vs. Rani Yahya (No. 9 BW)
Takeya Mizugaki (No. 4 BW) vs. Scott Jorgensen
Anthony Pettis vs. Bart Palaszewski
Muhsin Corbbrey vs. Zachary Micklewright
Chad George vs. John Hosman
Courtney Buck vs. Brandon Visher
Brad Pickett vs. Kyle Dietz
Jameel Massouh vs. Erik Koch

Strikeforce - Evolution Matchups(Showtime…and Super Channel in CAN):
Josh Thomson vs. Gilbert Melendez
Scott Smith vs. Cung Le
Matt Lindland vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
Muhammed Lawal vs. Mike Whitehead
Antwain Britt vs. Scott Lighty
Daisuke Nakamura vs. Justin Wilcox
Bobby Stack vs. David Douglas
Alexander Crispim vs. AJ Fonseca

crap-i almost forgot!

thanks for posting that…i got my DVR set for the WEC

i don’t know who Ratcliff is, so i’m going with Cerrone. he’s one of my favorite fighters, but he seems to settle in and enjoy the fight too much to end it. sounds weird, but he doesn’t seem to mind getting hit…

otherwise my picks are Chris Horodecki, Bart Palaszewski and Joseph Benavidez…i rest i’m not too sure on.

Ratcliff is more of a highlight reel-type fighter. Not really dominant or anything, but is very explosive and “unorthodox.” And like you mentioned, Cerrone “enjoys” the fight too much at times…so I expect a “stand-and-bang” fight.

I’m also anxious to see if Horodecki has improved and polished as a young fighter. He better had,or Njokuani will fuck him up.

is this free or no?

WEC is “free” IF you have cable(Time Warner carries Versus channel)…Strikeforce is “free” if you have Showtime/premium cable.

i expect ratliff to get submitted
yahya to win

Melendez will get his revenge
Lawal will win quick and show wuy he is the best wrestler in mma
Le should win tko rd 2
Lindland will get subbed

Seems Horodecki forgot one of the most important rules of fighting…ouch!!

^“Protect yourself at all times.” He can’t say he wasn’t warned.

The Ratcliff fight was painful to watch. Yes, it’s good to bring your hips in to stop the knees, but at an angle so you’re not blocking the knees with your nuts. It’s Ratcliff’s fault he ate those knees there. You’re supposed to bring your hips in so that either your left or right greater trochanter is coming in. He just pulled his hips straight in. Who treats their own wedding tackle so carelessly?

Anyways, Cerone could have finished a lot sooner but he still looks incredible. That’s what good MMA muay thai looks like.

Visher is one brootal Asian. He’s a brick setter in real life. No wonder he’s so thick. Pretty dumb of Buck to stand with him. Did you see Visher just tossing Buck around with his plum?

I was so happy to see Cung le lose. Talk about a paper champion. Could we please see him against somone with anything that even looks like a ground game? Why Shamrock choose to stand and bang with him is beyond me.

That said, I thought Big John stopped it just a bit early.

Watched Strikeforce. Wow wow fucking wow. Melendez v. Thomson is easily a candidate for FOTY, Scott Smith is MMA’s own Balboa, King Mo does what he does and Jacare is going to be a dangerous man at 185.

If they can put on a show like this every few months, I’m hooked.

I’d love to see Jacare vs. Maia in MMA.

Scott Smith equals Balboa uhhh no Rocky was actually champ in the movies. Big Nog=Balboa. The only reason Le lost is because he was gassed i.e. ring rust, he was putting on an ass kicking before that. I agree with Melendez vs Thomson though great fight, they are talking Aoki next for Melendez. I see Melendez getting submitted, this is a good fight to see how he would do against AMerican wrestlers too. Jacare vs Shoelds is interesting, if Shields can’t take his opponent down he’s screwed, his standup is HORRIBLE, I think Jacare’s standup is probably better.

watched a couple of them fights now, but boy what great card STRIKEFORCE had!

Le-Smith was kinda tragic. This is a great, entertaining fighter, but he’s obviously not very willing to work on his (defensive) boxing. Standup cannot be 80% kicks. Especially when you’re gassing and the other guy not so much.
Hope he comes back stronger then before, determined to work on his deficiencies.
Souza was fantastic and will probably dethrone Shields.

I think I have to agree with you about Smith/Le. Cung-Phooey should have waited to come back, imo…he was rusty like homeless person’s neck.

Jacare vs. Shields is very interesting. I think Jacare abuses him.

lol, nice analogy… fuck, I thought I was watching Serra vs GSP all over again when Le got clipped.

I went to the strikeforce fight last night, it was a great card! You guys missed out from Shwotime not showing King Mo’s entrance, he had a crown and gold robe with girls holding umbrellas for him, classic.

Did anyone think that Cerrone started showboating a little in the third round? He could have finished the fight with the triangle because it’s pretty much impossible to escape from that specific position, but he gave it up intentionally. I didn’t like his attitude towards the end of the fight.

I don’t know why Linland thought he was going to do at all well against Jacare. Jacare had about 25 lbs of muscle on him and a ground and stand up game. Linland has neither.

It’s pretty clear MMA has passed Lindland by.

Yes…it has. He should stick to coaching/instructing,imo.

As for Jacare…he’s only going to get even scarier since he’s started training at Black House with Silva,Nog,etc.

Actually I was referencing Balboa getting the shit kicked out of him and then coming back to knock the other guy out. Not Smith being champ. I don’t see that happening but Smith always puts on a good show.
