Water, Water, Water

ok whats the deal with water??? i know its vital in life and when we workout /train we need more. but, how much should ‘we’ be taking. currently i consume 2.5-3 litres a day, is this enough how much is everyone else consuming??

Drink enough so your pee ain’t dark yellow and you’re on the money.

I would think that(talking about the pee color) would be below a minimum. Here’s the ultra scientific method I follow in terms of protein relating to water intake

Eating 1g/lb=1 gallon

Eating 1.5g/lb=1.5 gallon

Eating 2g/lb=2 gallon

MINIMUM

Remember a dehydrated muscle is a catabolic muscle. You aren’t going to hurt yourself with too much water, but you are going to hurt yourself with too little.

You know a women died from drinking too much water a few months back, right?

I have a tea cup at my desk. When it is empty I make another cup of tea. That’s my scientific intake calculation.

I definately should be drinking more water. hha I pretty much do what the other person does above. I fill a water bottle before class and once its finished I fill it up and drink another one.

I just read that you are supposed to drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes, for whatever that is worth. I personally think it’s BS.
I like Scott M’s protocol above. I get in at least a gallon a day and have been for about the last 8 years since I started taking creatine.

God I KNEW IT. I knew someone was going to post about this and I decided not to say anything about it out of sheer “well no one would REALLY think that someone in their right mind would do this”, but I’ve been proven wrong. The only person I’ve ever heard of doing this was so fucked up off ecstacy she couldn’t even control herself. Apparently there are others but do you honestly think a normal person is going to do this to themselves on purpose?

I only strive to be accurate.

And to this it is my duty to inform those who do not know that water CAN KILL YOU!

Muahahhaha!

I have this handy thing called thirst. It keeps my hyrdation in check.

I knew someone would bring up the woman who died. She drank gallons and gallons of water in a very short period of time. Drinking 2 gallons a day will not kill you and will actually be very beneficial.

That seems pretty excessive. That’s one gallon every 4 hours, and if you’re awake 15 hours, that’s 5 gallons a day. That seems like a lot of water, too much in fact. Might as well drink the water in the bathroom, because you’re gonna be peeing all day lol.

That stat that Jay-B posted sounds more like a during exercise recommendation.

This is a good guideline. Just remember that higher water intake needs more salt to maintain the ph balance of the body.

The minimum recommendation is 64oz + 8oz per 25lbs overweight. I make sure to drink that every day, plus whatever extra I’m thirsty enough for.

i think im ok drinking 3 litres a day, its just with the intensity of my training (MMA and swimming) it kinda takes it outta ya.

Apparently the sensation of thirst is an indication that you are dehydrated and didn’t drink enough water in the first place.

Yeah by the time you’re thirsty it’s too late. Just don’t drink gallons and gallons in a short time and you’ll be fine. 1.5 gallons a day seems adequate.

hockey that person is discussed in that link under the notable cases. I was referring to the girl who took X and drown herself with water bottles basically.

I drink a gallon a day. I have 4 bottles of water before lunch, and about 5 afters. Thats about 153 ounces of water. How many ounces is in a gallon?
