60 pounders are not easy. My arms are 18.5 inches and I’m curling 60 pounders for ~ 10 reps. I’d like to see anyone with significantly smaller arms (15-16") curling 60 pounders for reps on video.
Are you talking strict or loose form? I can’t tell how horrible my form is but I don’t think it’s that bad. My arms a shade under 16.5 (lost .5" since surgery) and I get it for 6 reps. I’ve done 45lbs on 1 arm preacher curls for 6 strict reps. I think that’s more impressive than curling the 60’s with loose form. Can’t cheat on the preachers.

The difference in those two videos is that the second one the guy uses more shoulder momentum. It’s likely that the first vid put more stress on the arms.
If you asked me to show a vid to a newb demonstrating proper “pinwheel curls” I’d choose the first vid in this post.
FTR I can curl 65lb DBs 10 times. And pinwheel curls the 100’s easily for 10 reps. Arms are over 17.25
I probably wouldn’t choose either lol, but honestly it looks to me like the first guy is swinging just as much as the second guy but is barely going up. Not that he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but I would think the 2nd form would be better. Either way though I think you see my point that 65’s at 14.5in arms isn’t too crazy given you can do 100’s for 10 reps.
Pinwheels are supposed to be swung, friend. That is the point of them. To allow the person to use a ton of weight and overload the muscles. Far different from something like a concentration curl. I wont go as far as saying “the looser the form the better” but not using any swing or momentum isn’t the goal. And in video 2 when the shoulders come up that is taking stress off the biceps and other arm muscles. Similar to doing a barbell shrug but bending at the elbows to get the bar higher.
I agree they should be swung to some degree, and I think the one steelyD posted is a good example. In that first video I think it’s just a little much (actually not too much swinging, just not bringing it up much) but he obviously knows what works for him. Doesn’t change my comparison of what mine were like though.

Don’t know how big my arms are but they really don’t seem big to me and it don’t take much for me to curl 60lbs strict form for like the first 7 reps.

LMAO…
Whats up with guys bumping these old ass threads… .ha
OK beans… went to the gym today to work arms, tried to record it but i was told i couldn’t use a camera in the gym.
Luckily i have a few lbs at the house… I posted a video in my HUB of me curling 61lbs with ok form.
I had to record it a few times because every time i would bring the weight towards the camera to prove that it really is 61 lbs it wouldn’t show because of the lighting.
Anyways 2x3lbs+2x25lbs+5lb bar = 61lbs…
Only got about 6/7 reps… next time i will hit it fresh.
Let me know when you’ve viewed it so i can return my hub to private.

We’ll are you on each others buddy lists? Then you can see through the privacy setting. So unless he wants to become buddies with whole board it makes sense to just post the video.
