I actually agree with you on this.

IMO users of marijuana should be treated like alcohol users. Do whatever you want to in your house, but if you are driving then DUI come into play. Sellers of marijuana should be treated like bars, and liquor stores. If you allow someone to get high in your establishment and they drive and kill someone you are on the hook.

IMO any drug that can kill you because of an overdose (heroine, crack, cocaine…) Should still be treated as it is now, both users and sellers.
You forgot to add alcohol. Of these 4 drugs, none will kill you from withdrawal with the exception of alcohol.
Please enlighten me. How much and for how long do you have to use alcohol for this to happen?
A BAC of .4 can kill you in the short term. Happens fairly often on college campuses, particularly around when kids turn 21 and try to do 21 shots.

As for the dying from withdrawal it generally takes years, but lets not pretend alcohol is not the most abused drug on the planet. Convulsions leading to death are not uncommon, the same with heart attacks from excessive drinking. Heroin withdrawals will not kill you they will just make you wish you were dead. The only other commonly used narcotic that will kill through withdrawals are Benzodiazepines.
I was sheltered when I was 21, so never thought someone would force themselves to do 21 shots. Only in the past year have I gotten sick from drinking too much and that happened twice. I saw what was going on, and I now know my limits, and a half bottle of Patron is beyond that.

I do agree that alcohol is the most abused substance on earth. Been around a very long time. It is legal to use, but abuse is bad on a lot of things.

I almost died when I was 16 from drinking the vast majority of a 1.75 L bottle of vodka in a night.

Seriously what possesses someone to drink that much?

In jest - I guess my body finally says damn D you drank too much so I am going to expel it. I throw up 3 or 4 times and that is it. My liver then does the rest of the work as I am asleep. After drinking a half bottle of Patron one night I was at work the next day.

It was only like my 3rd or 4th time to drink liquor. I just kept loading up this cup of Hawaiian punch with it drink half, more vodka, drink half more vodka, till it was almost pure vodka. I drank it so fast that it didn’t have time to hit me before I had way to much. I don’t really recall a lot about that night. To this day the smell of Hawaiian punch or vodka makes me want to hurl.

So here is a question for you. Would you rather get in a car with someone who is high and just smoked pot or someone who is drunk? You can’t choose not to get in the car.

40 year history for any one interested

His point is that most drivers preform much better at operating a motor vehicle under the influence of pot than alcohol

I know that, but my point is I would not like to be in a car being driven by either. If I am in the car I would be driving.

But at least in the car driven by the stoner you are only going around the corner to 7-11 for munchies. The drunk is out cruising the back roads.

I have thought about it and the only valid part of your post is being born black (well depending on your view of homosexuality you could have that as a choice or being born that way) otherwise your comparison to the whims of Kim Jong is the same argument of being arrested for the whims of the ATF/US Govt. The fact that you can freely buy tobacco and alcohol (again it was illegal and then everyone said “oh yeah massive fail this is stupid”) and yet we still try to act like pot is somehow worse means that its illegality is based off the whims of men and not the common sense law of the universe. The victim aspect comes into play when you look at mandatory minimums, etc. victims of a stupid and failed system but no you’re right, you are choosing to smoke it so you are not a hapless victim.

Exactly. Weird how some of these people were up in arms talking about the NSA. You choose to use a cell phone or computer therefore the government can spy on you because you made that choice. You aren’t a victim, you don’t have to use either.

Strange logic.

-___- exactly and our government waste how much money on border control going after drug cartels when their most profitable drug is pot. We eliminate that and they will become less powerful. Not only that but studies show that America and Holland have similar percentage of pot users. The only difference is in one country its illegal and in the other it is legal. If a person wants to smoke it it is him/her choice it shouldn’t be the government. All we are doing is putting innocent people in jail, wasting money on this “war on drugs” and giving more power to drug dealers and cartels. To this point it is getting more of a common sense thing. When polls have shown 50% support the legalization of marijuana and only 3% of Congress does, now that is a problem.

I am all for legalizing maryijuana, but there needs to be the same type of rules that alcohol has on it. You can smoke a bowl in your house, but if you go out driving (yes I saw the video) and you kill someone or have an accident it would be a DUI on your record and you would get the same type of punishment.

Are you for that?

Absolutely, just as it shouldn’t be tolerated if you are at work high. Just smoking and driving isn’t nearly as dangerous but it shouldn’t be allowed either.

I also feel if it is a smoke shop such as a hookah bar you should be able to smoke it there.

Let me give you an example of how fucked up the system is from my experience. I am in the US Army(I am getting out in 3 months yayyy) and drinking and drug is a problem. My old squad leader from Germany just popped hot for weed. He is now being chaptered out of the Army and part of his punishment is loss of rank, loss of pay, extra duty and probably a general discharge. He has a Bronze star for valor for going in a RG-31 after it was struck by an IED and was on fire. He went into the burning vehicle and used two tourniquets on a double amputee and pulled two other from the vehicle. If he wouldn’t of put those tourniquets on in the vehicle he would of bled to death. He has a total of 3 deployments two being Iraq and one being Afghanistan. After all of this he will being getting probably no benefits and a general discharge for smoking a little weed while on leave in Cali.

We had another Sergeant in my unit get a DUI and struck a pole. This was brushed under the rug and all that happened to him was he moved to a different company. I hope you can understand my problem with how this law is just straight retarded.
