WannaBe’s Last Year Of “DYEL?”

If it makes you feel any better it’s been a giant pain in the ass and I’m not a fan of it :joy:

I’d love a 2022 F150 4 door with the V8 and the reclining seats. The front seats lay flat and the roof is basically all glass :joy:

Nah it does not make me feel better as i have never had a car thats not at least 10 years old when i get it, so any car is a pain in the ass…
We actually never get new cars - that is viewed as unnecessary expensive. We usually aim for 10-12 year old ones. 1.4-1.6l engines…

I have never seen a real TRUCK in my life - only in movies… I guess its because of their price and size. Since we dont have houses in general - everyone lives in 5 story appartment buildings with 1 bedroom and maybe 1 bedroom and a living room at best. So its all kinda cramed up. We park cars on the streets. If someone would have a truck i am sure he would have to pick out garbage out of that box every morning as that is how nice people we are in here…
If someone would DARE to have a car without a roof, it would be full of shit and garbage if left un-guarded for an hour
So we just buy small, old, ugly cars, so no one gets jellous and wants to do something stupid.
When i was younger and more into money i dreamed of affording some 15-20yr old Dodge Ram or Escalade one day

Mines a 13 model, so it’s not newer. New trucks are sooooo expensive and I can’t justify it.

I actually just drug home a 86 Dodge Ram charger! Gotta rebuild the rear end to get it back going. Eventually I’d like to turn it into an off-road toy.

You could drive OVER the shitty traffic in here with that one, lol

We also dont have too many really old cars like that, because of shit weather - we have hot summers and freezing winters, and in winter they salt the roads, so a car thats older than 95 would probably have no floor anymore  i rmb when i was a kid, my dad had a car that had holes in the floor. If you moved the…carpet thingy, you could see ground when driving, lol

That pretty much what I used to buy. You can almost get them free here. I bought a car for 600 USD and drove it for like 5 years and 65K miles. Now I am all fancy. My current car is an 08 (only 13), but it has a 2.3 L motor with a turbo, so it goes pretty well (it’s a mazdaspeed3).

We definitely have that problem in the states, just not around where I live, which I’m thankful for.

Almost all of the cars over 10 years old where I live (Minnesota) have some rust.

i think we dont have the exact model here but at least that one looks like something we could see on the street, lol…
i have a Toyota RAV4… i think its december of 2009… so its almost 2010, lol

Yep. When I was a mechanic I hated northern cars :joy: mine has zero rust and she’s old

I think they called them Mazda MPS or something like that outside of the US. Mine looks like this.

Mazdas are considered crappy for our climate.
Toyotas and Hondas are the good asians, mazdas, hyundai and others are a bit cheaper, but i think the popular belief is that they break more…
Then again, the repairs are cheaper. A repair for Toyota or Honda costs almost as much as for a Mercedess and that is one of the most expensive cars in here…
The most most expensive ones would be American cars but mostly because no one could fix em, you should only use the official dealership, so pay TRIPPLE for every thing they do to it, and since the parts should be always bought new and original, owning anything American would not be affordable even for our president

The most popular and also hated ones are BMWs…

Opposite here. Hyundai and Kia parts and sky high here

Kia would be considered a complete shit even for people who cant afford any cars  its a joke car, i believe we would kinda see it as a plastic car

Here American cars are the cheapest to buy. They are not as reliable as a Toyota / Honda though. In the US used market, people pay the most for the year and mileage compared to the new cost for Toyota and Honda, then probably Mazda for Japan. For the US cars, they are all pretty cheap used. German cars drop like a rock. They still fetch an okay price used, but that is because they were super expensive to start.

We mostly have german cars, probably cuz they are close and also they are reliable because germany has simmilar climate.
We cant drive French, Spanish or Italian, they would just die in the first winter and never start again. My mother had a Fiat when i was a kid, we had to take a cup of hot water with us(mostly the car is parked 10-15min walk away from the place you live in) to spill it on the doors, so they would at least open.
BMWs, Audi and VW are the most popular ones. BMWs and Audi mostly cuz they are affordable but also super fast.
Our kids watch Fast and Furious, then buy old BMWs for like 1500USD and then crash em into trees and die, lol.
After the german ones - the japs, and then… some rare people drive the french/spanish/italian… those are the same people who park their cars in a pile of snow at the start of the winter, to dig em out at the start of a summer, lol

no mercs?

Yes, those too, but mostly A or B class because all the other models are super expensive even old. Mercs are basically luxury car.
The most expensive one, is the cliche - russian mobster car - Mercedess G
i once saw it up for a sale - it was 25 years old, cost 70k (in a country where average salary is 700 a month).

Went for a 25 minute walk this morning and then went to an indoor rock climbing place with the kiddos. Semi active recovery lol
