WannaBe’s Last Year Of “DYEL?”

Check out these " JuanFU Dumbbell and Barbell Grips, Thick Bar Grip Handles for Bodybuilding, Weight Lifting" that change up the shape of the barbell. Maybe something like that could help with your wrist position for pressing?

Stupid fawking leg day.

The old hip problem that I felt with for ever and ultimately made me quit squatting for over a year came back today. Hoping it’s just because I was squatting in OnClouds and not my romaloes. Thought it would be fine but hip killed me and it’s a miracle I didn’t break an ankle. I’m sure waiting 30 minutes for a squat rack and completely cooling down/losing the ole pump didn’t help. I’m sure my coach will be thrilled to find out I didn’t complete his workout

Lying leg curls
130 x 13
100 x 17 + partials past failure

Hack squat (includes sled weight)
425 x 12
Following 3 sets have 20 sec rest
425 x 6 425 x 6 425 x 4

Lying leg curls
120 x 14

RDL’s
225 x 10
225 x 10
Supposed to be a 3rd set and supposed to be heavier but I forgot my straps #weakgrip

Squats
135 x 10
225 x 10
Quit early hip hurting

Single Leg extensions - no rest between
60 x 10 x 3

Have you ever posted a squat form vid for critique? Could help with your hip issue.

And if you forgot your straps, why not go mixed grip? Even lowering the weight or doing less reps would be better than skipping the third set altogether.

What’s your hip issue? @flappinit has been detailing some hip flexor work in his log that’s helped him squat more comfortably.

I’ve posted videos before, seen two physical therapists, one Specailized in sports medicine, as well as two chiropractors. They all had there special cures and exercises and stretches, tried all of them. Ultimately the only thing that got rid of it was quitting squatting for a year and then very slowly working up.

Due to plates, screws, arthritis, and carpal tunnel in my wrists and hands I don’t even almost have the mobility to go mixed grip lol. This is also why my grip strength is low. I used to have a damn death grip before I got hurt.
It was all I could do to hold onto 225 briefly.

Maybe it’s time to revisit some stuff, but see reply above good sir.

I gotcha. Can you tell your coach, “Hey, I’ve got some limitations. Squatting and deadlifting (just examples) just don’t work for me.”? I mean, he’s the coach, but he should also be able to adjust due to his clients needs and everything. My mom had a coach once (actually was Paul Carter, but he sucked ass at being a nice person, haha) and he did ask about prior injuries and equipment at her disposal before making her program.

Do you want to squat? Or do you just want big legs? SSB squats, goblet squats (maybe not…), hack squats, leg presses, lunge/split squat type stuff, belt squats, trap bar DL’s could all lead to leg hypertrophy while not aggravating your upper body issues.

Dude you need to get your ass to an airport, the flying population looks like they’ve collectively worked out for 38 minutes, your DYEL standards will definitely be reset.

Lol I don’t care about legs at all. I want just enough that (one day) when my upper body gets all jacked and joozy I don’t look like a meme. What’s funny is my legs grow pretty easy with consistent food and minimal exercise. Calf’s not included obviously.

I told him I had issues with squats, and basically all straight bar work. Yet here we are lol. I’m gonna try and do it his way for now though. I’ve already been a shitty client :joy: bitched about food on day 3 and he told me to grow a pair and stfu (obviously not like that).

There’s is still a large portion of males who have never set foot in a gym let alone thought about working out who have better arms than me. BUT, hopefully this is the last year of DYEL fo sho.

Calling bullshit on that

I can be a bit dramatic and extremely hard on myself, and I probably do have a bit of body dysmorphia… but the arm thing is true. Shirt off, front facing, it’s obvious I hit the gym here an there, T shirt on and no one would know.
One day though

Check out Johnnie Candito, one of the guys I really look up to. Guy barely looks like he lifts with his shirt on, but strong as fuck. Stronger than @T3hPwnisher ? :grimacing:

Indeed. He still looks decent but dude is definitely strong. I’d be ok with looking the way I wanted and being burried by a 135# back squat :joy:

I mean this is the basis of a good coach, this is just common sense…

@wanna_be not to diss at your coach or anything, but if you have horrible hips and wrists maybe the straight bar squat isn’t for you.

But then yeah, don’t be a sissy about food and don’t forget your straps next time!
