How’s thangs, @wanna_be ?
good training going on in here
Mind if I stick around?
It’s ok. Battling depression, anxiety, and all that comes with it, so just another normal day ![]()
The training is mediocre at best, trying to make some progress though.
Hell no I don’t mind! I need to get back to regularly posting. I’m actually about to go hit back and triceps. Just got done loading and unloading a Uhaul, so back day is a fitting ending lol
Pretty solid back and tricep day. Great mind muscle connection the whole time. Just realized writing this I forgot to do my warm up set of pull-ups. Started doing one set at the beginning trying to get back to the higher reps.
Seated uni cable rows
Uni hammer lat pull downs
Chest supported uni rows pronated and neutral
Dips
EZbar skull crushers
Rope push downs
Forgot the pull ups and rear delt work lol
What are y’all using for slight incline EZbar skull crushers? And how many reps? Kinda new to these and have been doing sets of 11-13 with 80lbs. Not sure if I should go for more reps, or even lay the bench completely flat. I do keep my arms behind my head so the triceps never have the load taken off ala John Meadows.
Thoughts?
I usually go 15-20 reps other wise my elbows get beat up with more weight. Incline I am not sure matters, just what ever feels comfortable.
Been training. Took two days off due to working a 24hr shift. Took the day the shift started and the day the shift ended off lol felt horrible but I think it was the right call.
Today was an interesting leg day. Went harder than normal whilst the woman was cooking lunch after church. Finished my final exercise, hobbled out of breath and light headed 10 feet to the dinner table, sat down and ate a giant bowl of turkey sketti lol. Pretty sure i nailed that anabolic window today ![]()
Scale still sitting at 212. Crazy how much I was able to eat on blast and not gain weight and even lose weight if I had a bad day. I’ve ditched the daily steak meal prep in favor of turkey burgers (no bun), lots of veggies, and a little carbs (~40g). Ready to start seeing this scale drop.
Dude, that’s the Ted Arcidi special right there: you absolutely nailed it!
Had to google him, dudes a monster!!!
Broke Kaz’s bench record. You could pick far worse dudes to steal from, haha.
Mediocre training is where the gains come from. Don’t be fool by the hype videos and PR instagram accounts.
Day in day out. That’s why successful people always talk about the grind.
Stay strong, tall about your feelings, and keep moving forward. You’ve got this brother. Gaintrain 2021
Appreciate the kind words man. I feel like 80% of the workouts and just maintaining what I’ve currently got, 10% are going backwards, 5% aren’t happening, 3% are gains, and the last 2% is just a sacrifice for Odin ![]()
Ah but when ragnarok comes you will be ready, for the blessings of Odin will protect you
Come on guys: know your bro history!
Start with the good news:
Got a job transfer to a new location (one I’ve worked at before) and I’m extremely thrilled. Don’t like my boss, but I’m around good people and friends again. I talked and laughed and made jokes at work for the first time in almost a year. Fuck it feels good
The bad:
Shoulder day. Gym was super packed. Waited for a bench to seated dB OHP and rushed the warm up. The bench was set between two mirrors and it was making a weird optical allusion throwing off my balance. Kinda like looking up while standing and watching the clouds move. Super weird sensation. Lost the 80lb dumbbell is a way that could have completely ripped apart my shoulder. Luckily no real damage besides pride. Skipped chest completely. Probably the worst workout I’ve had in a while.
I need a change. I’ve been doing the same things over and over at the same place and I’m so beyond bored with what I’m doing. Idk if I’m gonna change gyms, start a real workout, or maybe both. Idk. It’s time. For something.
It’s time…for crossfit
I actually want to. But I wanted to wait until I was somewhat comfortable with some of the Olympic moves. I have horrid mobility as well, so I’m sure it would take a while to get there lol
I dont know if there is any crossfit boxes open where you live, but a lot of boxes will take the time to teach you the lifts and work on mobility. You can also scale any wod too.
Yea they are all open here. Couple reasons I want to learn them on my own:
I have some previous injuries and I’d rather work around them myself and coming here for form help. I’ve seen the box’s near me on Facebook and they don’t inspire confidence for new oly lifters it looks like ![]()
I’m a pretentious prick and want to show up already good at the lifts lol
I do like the idea of going ahead and messing around with some of the WOD’s just to get a feel though. I’ve been wanting to try grace pretty bad. Might start there.
I get that. I was big into crossfit 4 or 5 years ago or so, and i never stepped foot in a box for similar reasons, but a third being that i didnt want to pay the membership price they asked. Between some sites and apps, there is access to tons of free wods, theres tons of info out there about how it all works, and following some crossfitters on youtube may help. I found after a while, i learned how to program for myself, my needs and so on and it worked very well.
Grace would be a good one to mess around with to start off, but i would also suggest looking up the bench mark wods. I like the cindy and fran wods as starters too…dont require much skill but are sneaky in a way. With cindy it sounds easy, but as you push the pace and get more rounds in it can get quite tough. I found low skill amraps to be addicting almost.
I’ll definitely check those out! As to the price… that’s another reason too I forgot to mention. Not keen on laying $180 a month just starting out lol
