Yeah its pretty steep. Thats higher than i remember still too
CrossFit around here is pretty culty and only in the fancier areas, so it comes at a price lol
I am a huge fan of the powerlifting / strongman gym I go to (we also have a handful of weightlifters and correct bars, bumpers and platforms for them).
We have a big section of turf which people do conditioning on. One could do CrossFit WODs if they wanted. It is a lot lot less than $180 per month (wife and I pay $70/mo for both of us).
Maybe do some searching. Not sure what is in your area, but in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area there are about 6 gyms like the one I go to. I knew about none of them when I was at the commercial gym. A really good way to find them is going to a local powerlifting or strongman event. Most of the people will be from these type of gyms. Internet can work, but I had to get pages into google to really find my gym.
haha! yep, I’m the same way -
Good back and tricep day at the house, simple, but I feel it was effective.
4 sets of:
Wide grip pull ups
BOR’s with 195lbs with ZERO body movement and a 3 second hold/contraction at the top.
Single arm cable rows
Rope lat pull downs
The barbell rows were wild. Such a great pump. I’d normally do a couple more sets of these tucking the elbows and getting more lats but I was tired of bending over and straining with sinus shit from the weather/allergies lol
Triceps I did
Dips
Cable push downs
Skull crushers
Did a 70 rep +30 rep (after a 5-7 second break lol) of cable curls using the ezcurl bar and finished with a straight 100 rep rope push downs, next time I’ll up the weight for tricep. My arms were more pumped than they’ve ever been. Looked so fucking juicy stretching right the sleeve on my shirt!!***
***disclaimer: these sleeves are already tighter than normal lol still feels cool.
Dude, you’ve got a man bun? Sweet. Just noticed your new profile pic.
You ever been to Los Campeones?
I’d rather have tight sleeves than loose beltline any day.
Wimmen like big guns like men like big boobage
I have not been to Los Champeones yet. I offered to go with a friend that wants to go to a more hardcore gym, and there is a Los near him (I think there are three locations). I know a lot of people who go to these gyms. They are very solid. Mine is similar, but a one off.
Been rocking the long hair for a while now. The bun is more for convenience. I won’t go into too much detail as @wannaBe has already expressed disapproval lol.
I’ve only been once. Can’t remember if it was the one on East Franklin or Blaisdell Avenue. I go to the Twin Cities fairly often to see family, and both of those locations are within a few miles of where they live.
Once while arriving to town, I saw their billboard and got interested, just since I’d never been to a strongman gym before. I don’t remember how this got set up (and with COVID it may no longer be an option) but I somehow ended up texting with an employee and was able to set up a one time free visit and “coaching.” When I got there, the dude seemed nice enough, but when I told him that I didn’t have access to strongman stuff (haven’t gone the DIY route yet) and therefore wasn’t looking to become an active competitor at that moment, he seemed to get disinterested in me. He continued showing me the gym, but when I started to try to pick his brain on other lifting things (he was big and appeared strong) he had nothing to say. Ended up not offering any type of advice or coaching, and ended the tour by basically implying that I could go now, haha.
Maybe they’re really only interested in people who compete or will eventually join their gym. I did really like it though - lots of equipment, members seemed nice, and they had an outdoor area (in a nice neighborhood) which I actually like the idea of. Only ever seen that in YouTube videos in California.
It is a bummer that the guy was kinda a dick that showed you around.
The gym I go to has several members who are dual members at Los. One guy has a big home gym and two gym memberships. He must really like to lift. He is part of Los’ powerlifting team called Nemesis.
The MN Vikings had a defensive end named Everson Griffen. His brother Charles works out at Los and is an absolute unit. An acquaintance of mine got into a fight with him that I guess involved throwing plates at each other. Probably not a great idea to mess with a guy Charles size.
Jeez. And his brother was in the NFL? Good genetics haha.
I thought the arm of the couch was a weird extension of his quad. Threw me off for a second.
I think Everson is actually considered one of the better defensive ends in the NFL (or at least he was while on the Vikings). I think he is a starter on the Lions now (he is getting older now for football, I think he has been in the league over 10 years).
How much broccoli and chicken will I have to eat to look like this? Tan not withstanding
Your gonna have to add in rice for that mass, bra.
Well i brought steak and rice today for lunch (ran outa turkey) so I guess I’m on my way
I think you would have to hit up the GNC for some supplements too. Cell tech would go a long way. I guess if you tell the really big employees you are looking for the best supplements, they may hook you up with some stuff not on the shelves. I don’t know if that would be needed or not for the look above. I bet he just has great genetics, eats clean, and has worked hard for a decade.
Definitely follows a HIIT protocol off darden
It is HIT you Philistine! But for sure he does. Probably twice a week for 18 minutes a session. The key inroad is the 30 second eccentric, 10 second hold, and 30 second concentric.
Such a deep inroad. Like all the way deep
Back in the 1970s Casey Viator told me all about the key inroads. They need to be deep if they are going to be effective, but they also must be brief. Mentzer confirmed the same, but proclaimed that the inroads must be even more brief than we thought before.
