counts as conditioning.

I’m smart. I don’t want a smith machine. But my fiancé wants one BAD. She just got a really nice one. Guess who’s turn it is to get some nice equipment ![]()
I’m playing the long con into a brand new hack squat machine and cable cross over.
Slowly coming along. Still gotta set up a couple things and still gotta add a couple more pieces. Been looking
Miss you brother! Hope you’ve been doing well!
Hey man! Doing good. Picked up a hack squat earlier today actually!
Started gaining weight a couple weeks ago, still hittin it hard. Bought a year subscription to RP hypertrophy app and reactivated my MyFitnessPal account.
Hope you’re still making incredible progress in the gym and enjoying life!
Wow! Sounds like things are going great!
And yes sir! Life and the gym has been awesome! Been making great gainz doing Mountain Dog Training for the majority of the year!
How are you liking the RP app? It seems awesome but also a bit on the pricey side
I’d love to make a run at some of John Meadows stuff, I’ve always been a huge fan.
Still too early to tell. I finished a cut using it (about 3-4 weeks) and then am on week two of gaining using it.
So, I haven’t got to the point where it’s supposed to really shine but thus far colored me unimpressed. Holding out hope though. Gonna get my moneys worth and run it for a year. I was actually going to pair it with the RP diet app but after some research you need to be in a maintenance phase for a couple months with it before you try and gain/lose using it, so just went with ole trusty. It’s actually been fun micro managing my food intake again lol
That’s too bad! Hopefully your experience improves! What about it has left you unimpressed so far?
It just seems like every other decent workout app out there. It was really pushed as the smartest thing ever, AI driven blah blah. Seems like a very basic progressive overload app. Made your targeted reps this week? Ok, try for one more next week!
If I don’t lie and tell it “that really pushes my limits, I can’t do more” it’ll just keep adding and adding and adding sets. At one point it wanted me to do like 7 sets of rear delt raises.
It also takes things like soreness into account. Not everyone gets sore, I am one of those. Unless it’s new and I go absolutely nuclear on it… no soreness. Definitely not gonna get sore from a “3RIR chest press” lol.
Lacks ability to update body weight with body weight exercises. No rest timer between sets. Both of which are no big deal but even free apps have this.
Idk, I know it doesn’t sound like it, but it is a good app. My biggest issue so far is it’s $300 and touted as ground breaking, but seems to do what other waaaaaaaaay cheaper apps do.
That actually is a bit disappointing. Some of those features sound super cool and I do get super sore… Maybe not from 3 rir stuff but I can tell you I’m crooked with soreness today lol
It would be cool if you could give them feedback and they roll out some updates that make the app closer to what you were expecting. For the price, I think they should.
Good to see you back dude!
I’d like to hear more on the APP as you use it more. My buddy just bought it on the monthly plan which is ~$35 / month. Seems like a lot of money for an APP.
If it really is a game changer, it might be worth it. I could see a use in it myself as I’ll start out with exercises and make them harder each week for 4-6 weeks, then stall, and reset. The problem often is the reset point is too low where I don’t really feel like I am making progress, but it needs to be low to allow 4-6 weeks of progression. If it has creative ways of extending the 4-6 weeks, or making the resets more difficult and allowing a good amount of time to progress, that would be really helpful to me.
At the same time, I’d feel ripped off. I know they put a lot of time into development, but once it is up and running, it isn’t going to cost them much to have the app available. It would piss me off to learn that 5 years down the road they had like a 1,000X ROI on it.
Not back, just randomly got an email that ole Dave posted in my journal and I couldn’t leave him (nor would I leave you
) hanging lol
How have you been? Still swole it’s looking like!?
Yea I’m curious about this. I technically haven’t completed a meso, but from what everyone says it doesn’t keep or remember your weights. You still have to manually put them in. It has been a big complaint in the RP users Facebook group, which I left, because WOW… it’s like Reddit.
I don’t need you to come back here regularly but I’m still missing my invite to the gym barn party, so we should probably get that sorted while you’re here.
I am smaller than I was, but leaner too. It’s been intentional though, and I like the look better.
How’s the training on your end aside from the new app?
You’re married now, right? It’s been a bit.
Still doing lineman stuff? Crazy schedule still?
It seemed to put weights in for my buddy? IDK, I have no experience as a user.
It is interesting how they marketed this to me. I’d think at $10 / month, they’d get way more users. Since it it is software, it doesn’t cost them more to have tons of users. IDK, I am guessing that they have someone smart figuring out the price point. I’d still think $10/month was a lot haha, but I would be willing to try it, and if it’s legit, I’d keep paying. Having way more users is also advertising for the app.
Hell yea man that’s awesome! I checked your journal but didn’t see any new updates.
Training is going good. I had a decent cut and got leaner than I’ve ever been but nothing crazy. Next year it’ll be better for sure. Currently bulking, and holding a ton of water so it can be sad towards the end of the day being fresh off a cut lol.
Yea still doing linework! That’ll never change. Actually laying in bed now from working all night in a storm trying to convince myself to go hit legs. Funny enough, my power is out because it’s storming again haha
Married is correct sir! Actually have a kid on the way, a daughter. Apparently we had too much fun on the honeymoon. I also got full custody of my two kids from my previous marriage the week we got back from the honeymoon so now we’re just one big ass family lol. Currently working towards a financial goal to hopefully move out west in a couple years to make snowboarding and hiking easier. Or worst case scenario, a bigger house out here.
Life is way more hectic now but it’s good. Food and gym is more dialed in than ever and I’m hoping to make some progress.
As for the app and the price. Dr. Mike has really become popular here recently and I think he’s riding that wave. I’m sure the price will drop at some point but I bet he’s making an absolute fortune off these apps.
congrats
I lost motivation to update it TBH. Still training though. I’ve prioritized getting lean, and I’ve stuck to that fairly well. I do cardio every gym session now. Walking the dogs further. I still lift. I’ve started using a timer, and breaking exercises into tiers with different rests for each tier. This has helped me with not having all very taxing exercises, and do more during my time at the gym. I have the best physique of my life (at least IMO). That has been really great for my mentality as I am getting close to 36. Knowing that it isn’t all down hill haha.
Brutal for me. Just so tough to look a bit softer.
I have kinda stalled on losing fat. I am still making a bit of progress, but I’d like to be leaner than I’d actually like to be at the start of my next bulk, that way I end the bulk at a body fat level I like. Problem is that as I get leaner, I’d like to have that body fat with more muscle, so then I need to lose even more haha.
Congrats dude! Your life is moving so fast! I’ve not had nearly the changes in my life as you have.
Awesome too! Lots to manage.
It is impressive to me that you have things dialed in better than a year ago, while now having a full house, a baby on the way and still doing the line work with a crazy schedule. Maybe some day I’ll be that squared away.
Same here in my region. Everyone knows who he is at the gym. I watch his content and think it is quite good. He is funny as well IMO.
I agree about him making a ton of money. Making a popular app is a golden ticket, and if it is really popular at $35/month, he should be getting his lambos soon.
I can only imagine lol… they’re so married to studies and Stronger by Science, Eric a helms type of stuff. No room for bro science or firsthand experience around places like that. I like Dr. Mike but I get a little annoyed when everyone wants to go to war over whether a training method is effective according to a meta-analysis rather than just trying some stuff and see what they respond best to.
And congrats on all the big awesome things happening in your life right now! I’m really happy for you and your family! Glad to hear that the training is so dialed in for your right now! Everything sounds like it’s really coming together for you in your life!
I learned a lot this last cut. I went a little too hard too soon and ended up reaching a point that wasn’t sustainable waaay too soon. Next year I’ll treat cutting just like gaining focusing on progressive (de)overload with food and changing one variable at a time, let that get to a point where it doesn’t work anymore, and make another change.
I will say this though. Sleep has always been an issue for me. I decided I wanted to try HGH for the sleep benefits people claim. Didn’t really get any of that, but that stuff melts fat off. Like 2nd say I noticed a difference. I don’t think I’ll ever cut without it again. Just 2-3iu’s a day made a world of difference for me.
Dude it’s insane. I could have my own reality show. I seem to thrive in chaos though which is good. Shame my wife doesn’t enjoy the chaos as much ![]()
All that credit goes towards my wife. She has made being consistent and “living the gym life” so easy. Not only does she understand the personal priority of gym/diet, but she physically helps me. She does so much of my meal prep, weighing, cooking, shopping. It’s insane. Zero complaints and she actually “gets it”, which is huge.
As to the work. That shit is trying to kill me lol. I ended up getting called out about an hour after I said I was laying in bed about to have a leg day. Writing this post from a gas station while I take a break and eat food the wife prepared for me to take
. Ready for these random summer storms to be gone
Yes! So much this. And then the other half (on that group) have apparently never touched a weight. I really thought I was about to enter into a league of elites and be blown away with all this first hand experience and just be a fly on the wall soaking it all up. I mean hell, you’d think if you’re willing to pay $300 for an app you’re pretty serious about being big right?? Nerp. “ the app wants me to do a bicep curl but I’m not sure what that is. Also don’t see peloton bike ride under the leg exercise section.. idk what to do”. Sad mane. Real sad.
