After he turns 30 - WOAH!
Actually, kind of cool that he finished off his 29th year with an awesome PL meet!

You did SO awesome - and I couldn’t have done it without you cheering me on!!! It was pretty awesome to have the 2 highest totals at the meet! Wish I’d have hit my big dead, but now I have something to shoot for in November.

FTR, since he mentioned it [and bc I feel entitled to brag at least a little bit], my #s were:
S: 286, 310, 330, 340 (world record)
B: 142, 159 (miss), 159 <-----no bragging there
D: 325, 350, 369 (miss)
Total: 848

Thanks everybody! Finally got the videos spliced together with some catchy music tonight, so enjoy:

Been itching to lift the last week even though I’m still brutally sore from the meet. My lower back is fucked up to the point that it hurts to put my socks on in the mornings and my right scapula/shoulder area is still giving me problems…gonna hit the foam roller pretty hard this week since I’m off until Monday and get ready to hit it hard then.

Next up: Wendler’s Boring But Big Challenge. I figure I will do this for the next 3 months with an increase in calories and make a run at the 300# mark, while keeping bodyfat at acceptable levels and maintaining some semblance of conditioning. The program actually calls for 4 conditioning days per week, so there’s that.

I think the next meet I will do will be sometime in Mid-December. I’m planning to bulk for the next 12 weeks, take a week off, then run a 4 week hybrid program where I start incorporating some heavy singles (but not quite meet prep) while still focusing on lagging body parts and size. This will be sort of a transition cycle leading up to the meet prep, which will be 8 weeks long prior to the meet. This puts me at around December 7th or the 14th for the meet.

That’s crazy impressive dude. It’s nuts to me that you put up numbers like that despite being tall with crazy long limbs. That squat was atg deep and you bench without some ridiculous arch. You’re a beast bud.

Nice meet! The squats did look pretty easy.

6/25/12

Squats: 205x5, 255x5, 305x3, 330x0
Ab Wheel: 3x10

Treadmill Walk: 1.2 miles

First day back in the gym in 2 weeks since the meet (really first time lifting, other than the meet, in close to a month). It didn’t go so well.

My back has still been hurting but I thought getting in there and lifting would help it out a bit–no dice so far. My lower back felt like it was going to explode during my warmup sets, and I unracked the first working set and decided it was stupid to risk injury so called it there. I was supposed to work up to 430x5 and then deadlift 270x10x5 afterwards. No way in hell that was happening. Went and did some ab wheels for support and took a quick stroll on the treadmill and called it a day.

I’ve decided to just make this week a deload week and hopefully ease back into it before getting started with the BBB Challenge next week.

Blarg.

Really great meet performance.

Really great quads too.

Why thank ya Snap

6/26/12

Bench: 145x5, 185x5, 215x5
OHP: 95x5, 120x5, 145x5
DB Row: 60x10x3
Face Pulls: 3x15
Pushdowns: 3x12
Curls: 60x10x3

Cooldown: Stretching/Foam Rolling/LAX/PVC

Deload easy-in period continues. Back was still incredibly sore while trying to bench and during the DB pulls…I foam rolled the shit out of it and worked on the surrounding areas after the workout and got a bit of relief but there is definitely something out of alignment there that I’m going to have to go to a chiro to fix…gonna call early in the morning and see if I can get an appointment set up for after work.

Fix that back man! What’s ailing you with the back anyway? Muscle issue? Or otherwise?

BRAHHHHHHHHH!!!

Sweet singlet! haha!

Really though, good job. I can see you’re just stupid strong cuz your lifts aren’t very technical at all (compliment).

I think something is out of alignment…usually my right lower back hurts when it is a disc issue, and I can get it straightened out with some stretching, foam rolling, and ab wheels…

This time its on the left lower back and it feeels different…and the normal remedies haven’t helped…I think my hip may tight or something and pulling on my back…Im just going to ask the chrio to do some adjustments and see if that helps…

Also got a lot of pain in my right scapula…more than usual anyway, since it is constantly sore…

garbled mess

Man I was supposed to get a VT singlet from the wrestling coach, but that guy bojangled on me a few days before the meet so I had to rush around trying to find that one. My buddy had it and it was too big for him…I think it was a 3XL…it was slightly too big for me too, but it worked!

haha thanks about the lifts (I think)…I agree that with more proper PL Form and all that shit, I could probably lift more and when I am near a total that I want or stop progressing strength wise, I’ll probably start looking more at that…but right now I just don’t give a fuck and want to get stronger…

Thats kinda what Wendler said about cleans… He wants to do them with shitty form. That means hes just cock strong, form be damned! Good shit!

dude I started watching your video but had to stop to get my glow sticks and dance to that catchy music…good lifting in all seriousness bro

Where to start…

Still down in my back…not as bad, but definitely enough to keep me from doing jack shit that I wanna do…I went to the chiropractor on Wednesday and got adjusted…felt good that night but was tight and fucked up again the next day…went and deadlifted anyway and just did my warmup sets, which hurt and spent the rest of the time stretching…

Went and got an hour long massage on Friday, which really helped…she told me my IT bands were the tightest she had ever seen…she was not the first person to tell me this…recommended I schedule a 3 hour session for my next massage and have them really work on my IT bands, glutes, hammies, and lower back…I may end up doing that at this point, I’m desperate.

Was at a wedding all weekend so skipped OHP last week (not like it would have gone well anyway) and tried squatting tonight to no avail…made it through my warmup sets and 2 of my working sets, but on my last working set I didn’t even attempt a rep @ 430…I guess that is better than last week where I immediately racked my first working set, but definitely bad news overall…I had hoped I would be good to go by this point…I’m crooked as shit right now and in a lot of pain…this fucking sucks

Trying to get in to the ART guy tomorrow if he has any openings–cant take too much more of this.

I have given up trying the 5-3-1 challenge for the next few months…instead I am going to take the next 8 weeks or so to focus on my other area I wanted to bring up–the Guns…I’ve decided to run the program Tim Henriques wrote a couple weeks ago:

In between that and focusing on stretching and getting my back un-fucked up, I hope to finish it off and be able to move on to the challenge afterwards…we’ll see

Mentioned i had gone to a wedding over the weekend…we ended up with a corner room with jacuzzi tub in the middle overlooking Niagara Falls (the mist in the background)…it was pretty pimp…Pic for evidence.

Shit dude, what happened to your back?

For what it’s worth, what worked for me was about 12 adjustments, a 1-hour massage on my low back (felt awesome during massage, crappy/stiff for a day or two, then quickly felt a TON better after that) and picking exercises that didn’t stress my back at all. Sumo DL, Trap bar DL, Floor Press, Decline Press, prowler were the best I found.

You gonna be at FF thurs? I’m gonna try to ship out to Arlington for deads/OHP

I dunno what I did to it. It hurt a little after the meet in the lower discs, but felt pretty decent after a week…then it started hurting bad again and locked up lik ea mother fucker, and also my scapula flared up. I have no idea what’s going on, but it hurts like shit…

I was drunk in atlantic city and was doing 1 legged squats for some reason and that may have messed it up, I’m not sure…if thats the case its just a hip problem that I need to get back into alignment. I just need a good chiro to line me out–unfortunately mine is on vacation (and hes not that good anyway) and I cant get into the good one that Tim recommended to me.

Im down to lift tonight–doing my bullshit bodybuilding routine I threw together.
