Sama would be pretty tame as far as some of the more amusing accounts some of us have given. Translation kissing and tellin with anonymity is much easier/ less dangerous down the road or immediately. However the bigger isssue would be what brought me here in the first place and that’s the AAS forum. I dunno many people who want all their info right out in the open while discussing their use or involvement in the disgustingly overblown and unjustified legal bias that the scumbag government has put on a drug that kills thousands and thousands less then most drugs that they approve to be safe every year.
forums like sama and aas obviously require cloaking for obvious reasons. i guess i see it different b/c i’ve always just been here for the training and nutrition and yes, get a life. but i understand your point. even still, it’s bad form to post anything you would want to hide or keep confidential. you just never know. but seriously, as it concerns your OP, where does the source of degeneration come from?
some of you here from the beginning might have been a member of two mailing lists; mel siff’s supertraining and deepsquatters powerlifting list. dan john was a member of both as was I. i can’t recall the other notable members. we used our real names and locations and we discussed everything training related. there was no nonsense. disagreements were respectful. i even had a feud toward the end with siff about aas and dogs, but it never escalated to the extent you see in these forums. the cloak of anonyminity that fuels 99% of the bullshit in these forums. there is no way around it. when real names are used and people are accountable, even the tone of disagreement is civil for the most part.

I wasn’t on Supertraining when it was at its peak (I’m a little young for it unfortunately) but I’ve read through much of the archives. There were some… less than intelligent emails that got through. The difference is that there were well-respected authorities who would respond and set things straight before they got out of hand on training issues. You don’t really have that much around here in the “wild,” in that the authorities don’t meander too far out of their designated areas and the ones that do aren’t as well respected as Siff and the like. Nothing against the coaches here or guys like Prof X, but their names and responses don’t carry the same weight as a Siff or a Zatsiorsky would. Respected sure, but not a final authority sort of feel.
Without some of the big names around it probably would have been just as bad as this place can be even with real names being used.
