I’ve been around here for a few years now. I started as a lurker mainly on the aas thread and met some really nice guys and gals. People flamed eachother now and then and of course there was disagreements and plenty of ego to go around. That being said, I can’t believe what’s happened here over the last few years…I’m sure most of you will not give a fuck and perhaps this thread will never post.
Still I am really really disappointed. It’s seems as if 9 out of 10 posts turn into and arguement that just goes on and on for pages at a time. I understand that everyone has an opinion but honestly there just comes a point where the whole internet communication fabrication makes me wanna throw the fuck up till I choke to death on my own vommit.
It’s like this, imagine a group of people having a discussion about something that they all seem to find interesting and engaging (not really your business to say if they are right or wrong) then you overhear them say something about how let’s say for example powerlifters are fat slob fucks who need a forklift to keep their guts off thier dick long enough to clean there little shrunken twig and berries.
Before you know it the bodybuilder guys who where minding ther own fucking business have to then listen to wave after wave of blabbing on how bodybuilders are all closet queers who get the corn from gay european men with loads of cash and hgh. I know I’ve said this long ago but that’s the problem with these internet forums.
In real life you would know that the discussion you are overhearing (in this case reading) is one you don’t really wanna get invovled in because you share a different view, so you would keep your opinion to yourself because otherwise you would get stared at like some asshole who should just keep their mouth shut.
Unfortunately there is alot of rude people who don’t seem to care enough about the overall idea of a place like this (btw it’s to share the love of the lifestyle and pushing yourself to your limits) and would much rather wave their internet dicks all the time. BTW there are still some decent guys and gals here but overall it has the total feel of a very myspacey self absorbed big mouthed know it allish kind of tone with most of the members. Thanks for fucking up something that used to be really great. At least the free training advice still exists.
I though the same thing when looking at some threads from 4 years ago, it’s like the posting style of people has completely turned around. From long, interesting discussions into “GTFO FAG”.
I post on a couple of other forums and I actually think this one is quite tame and friendly.
I post at a Star Trek one and things get ugly there about the smallest thing really fast. Not downright trolling, but people who’ve been on the board for a long time getting upset and berating other’s opinions too easily.

And it’s the decent (or at least FUNNY) ones who keep me coming back. But as someone who’d been around here lurking for a long time before registering, and who used to post under a different name - buffdouchebagg - before Bob Parr came along, I have to agree with you, WG.
It’s probably most noticeable in the article discussions, unfortunately.
I’ve been guilty of getting caught up in E arguments. The board has definitely changed and its largely responsible for my long absences at times. In my opinion, the board’s membership has gotten much younger over the years. Male and young - the conduct you describe it to be expected. I’m male, and old enough to know better - unfortunately I have the hormones of the 16 year olds running around talking with their dick all the time. I’ll try to do better.

talking with your dick isn’t that hard, you just have to know where to fold. being able to throw your voice helps but it’s not a requirement.
Because of the phenomenon that’s developed over the last 5-10 years, where everyone gets to be random online, and say shit without any repercussions.
Once upon a time if you talked shit to a person, it was to their face, or on the phone, and you generally saw them on a regular basis. Your ass would get beat if you were a disrespectful asswipe. Now, Everyone gets to be a random personna, and it tends to unleash their wimpiest, bitchiest, most immature side.

fuck you dick! i’ll break your neck in 11 places! i know judo and my dad’s in the CIA he can find you and kick your ass!
I feels ya. I got tired of it and went back to lurking for a few months. Started a new renewable energy company (distributing solar water heaters), so that’s been fun. It got a little out of control for me when an ex GF actually cyper-stalked me on this forum! Gotta luv da interwebz…
Last week I took a vacation and on my way to and from Toronto (where the strip clubs and the food are simply AMAZING) I was fortunate enough to drive through the lovely state of PA, and I thought of my old furry friend and I was sad that I hadn’t arranged to have a beer with him… So I figured it was time to come back and say hi to everyone.
Hungry, I took 15 on the way up and 79 to 76 on the way home - would we have been able to grab a beer? Just curious. Hi everyone.

CHICKEN!! Welcome back!
Were you near Philly? There’s a I76 that runs through there…
Like the OP has said it is disappointing, and it really is, just the entire prejudice view that T-Nation developed
but, you must also consider that things change, like RSGZ said.
The internet has become almost a way to blow off steam. I mean look at how society functions, it’s a mess, we are simply too uptight, and, anti-social.
Not to mention our illogical tactics to fight global problems like hunger. For fucks sake, UN, instead of constantly feeding Africans, why don’t you teach them how to grow crops!?!?!? Africa isn’t completely infertile, and, the world isn’t that overpopulated, even though it has went past an accpetable limit 6 billion people ago.
