Walking Dead Season 3

We all expected a full on war with a governor revenge kill. Pretty disappointing. All we saw was Woodbury go into the prison and then get scared out. The Governor went completely insane, not surprising. Andrea finally died, big whoop. Carl is turning out to be more like Shane.

Honestly the death of Merle was more dramatic than anything in the season finale.

Had no emotional investment in this episode at all, and for a finale, that’s pretty sad. Started off fast and up-tempo, then just kinda fizzled out.

Mediocre. But I don’t psyche myself up for these things so I thought it was fine.

I honestly think the prison is killing the show. They need to leave that place.

I am confident the prison group will use tomb walkers as a weapon, because that has been the go-to trick of the writers for several episodes (Gov did it, Gov tried to do it, Andrea did it to the Gov, and Merle did it).

The asshole father whose kid just got killed by Merle will die in the prison assault.

As for Andrea, she will be tortured and either she or the nerd will kill the Governor – or he’ll do a Darth Vader and spin off into the wilderness to return at some later time.

There were some really cool parts to the finale. The Gov. snapping was great. Also Carl shooting that kid in the face.

Overall though this guy nailed it. Andrea has been a mainstay literally from the very beginning of the show. On paper, killing her off after all this time is a big emotional hit for the audience. Trouble is she was apparently incapable of doing anything except fucking up, and no one liked her. I love how her last words were “I tried”. To which Rick said something like “Yeah… you did.”

LOOOOL

What a perfect way for her to go. “I tried” (but totally failed).

I was very disappointed in the finale.

VERY.

The conflict at the prison was so melodramatic. They blow the ever loving fuck out of the place, go into the tombs, get scared by a SINGLE flare, and only see a few zombies? Then they are run off by glen and maggie alone?

I get the fact that this was to highlight that they are untrained and soft, but really?

What about the dangers of setting up an ambush in the tombs with all the walkers? That could have been highlighted, as well as crafting a strategy to more effectively use all of the walkers against the woodbury crowd. Didnt they have grenades as well??

Seriously weak ass fight scene. I thought the milton andrea drama was pretty cool, but the whole episode was so transparent.

Mixed feelings about the finale…on one hand, it’s nice to see Carl finally turn into a bit of a badass, and it was gratifying to finally see Andrea die.

At least, to me, this seemed like an affirmation of the idea that the TV show was going to diverge even more radically from the comic.

But the lack of a really satisfying confrontation with the Governor kind of fell flat with me.

Now he’s basically no more than a boogeyman wandering the back-roads, more than an overwhelming menace.

I am so cool with that. Not that I want the kid living next door but his transformation into just not trusting people with bad intentions on his doorstep is in line with what his character has been thru. His character is actually making sense. Everyone else seems to be written with caution. I would like this show to stop trying to be a long running 10 season bore like so many good shows end up. sopranos. But go out after 5-6 Great seasons like the wire.

I actually only give myself a C+ on this one. I got all the above from the title alone.

I had the major character death wrong (predicted Hershal). The choice of Andrea was much better than I predicted, and I should have seen this coming because of crowd hatred of Andrea — the people hated Lori, so she croaked. People hated Andrea, so she needed to croak.

I had Andrea living because they need hot chicks to keep the fan boy interest. I did not anticipate how easily they would replace her with another hot chick (the Latina or whatever she is for Woodbury).

I will note they followed the closest-to-the-person-kills rule with Michone killing Andrea.

The fact that the new Latina could not get the truck started reveals to me she will be another idiot. Indeed, the fact that she did not pre-emtively head-shoot all her compatriots before they rose makes me know she is an idiot.

The fact that the protagonists and the governor respectively each chose the school bus and dodge pickup (again, respectively) instead of the truck with a .50 cal on top also makes me hate them all.

Not worried about Carl becoming hard. The story arc will be: he loses his humanity (and his respect for his father) and then regains both. Essentially the same arc of John Connor from the Terminator movies, but with a father figure.

Those were the flash-bang grenades. They would seriously fuck with peoples’ vision and hearing.

They did that to me in the IDF training (along with tear gas at another time).

For whatever reason, I puked all over the place (which apparently 90% of people do). Very hard to fight and keep organized when puking your guts out.

In retrospect the tear gas and flashbangs were probably a better idea than lighting them up with grenades and all sorts of other fun.

I would have enjoyed if they had laid a merle-esque trap with zombies though.

The three middle lines Latina/.50 cal had me almost in tears

I kept waiting for Rick to smack Carl upside the head…

As for the .50 cal vehicle; I believe it’s tires popped when they rode into the prison from the spikes they had set up.

No idea how they’re going to have a show now about a prison dwelling retirement community in post-zombie-apocalypse America.

If think for a second any of them will live past the first episode of next season you are crazy. Old Food Fodder. However Herschel will give each of them a Infiniti gun to hold off the swarm of zombies while the others make an escape.

Hey guys, what’s up? Man, that was a pretty decent episode last night, don’t you think? Really set up a few questions to be answered next week in the season finale. I mean, right?

Like, seriously, cliffhanger finales are frustrating, sure, but I was expecting something to happen that made me antsy for next season to start. (In October, FWIW.) Right now, the biggest question is why they’re bringing two truckloads of people into the prison when resources are already spread thin. But I am glad it seems like Lori’s 100% off Rick’s mind now. No more hallucinations, just get back to reality.

I thought the Gov’s massacre felt appropriate, like something he’d definitely do in the moment, but I don’t know where he goes from here. I’m reading that he’s already signed on for next season, with a few places calling him a “series regular.” Not sure what that means specifically, especially since he’s just driving around with two guys who don’t trust him. Do the three of them just head back to Woodbury like, “Well, more food for us now.”

As for Carl, he was 100% channeling Shane last night. From shooting the dude in cold blood to berating Rick. That was kinda unexpected, I thought. I can see Daryl trying to pull him back in line.

I agree with Chris, it was a pretty decent finale.

When Carl shot the kid, the kid was lowering his weapon in such a way and seemed to be inching closer that I was sure he was going to pull something so when Carl shot him it seemed like the right thing to do. I don’t know if the scene was meant to raise that doubt or if that was me expecting additional complications due to the nature of the show. I’ll have to go back a rewatch that scene.

I don’t remember seeing anything like that. I saw Carl being a d*ck.

OMG ME TOO!

I was like, that kid had better just put the gun down and back away. He kept holding it out and stepping closer and closer to Carl like he was about to make a move and grab him and shoot Herschel.
