Walking Dead Season 3

I found a shitty capture of the scene here:

I think it could go either way, but now I’m leaning towards the kid was just putting his gun down. It was deliberately filmed in a way that left doubt I think.

Sorry, not what I meant. I was trying to be clever, saying that it would’ve been decent for just a regular episode, but was a letdown as a finale.

OMG ME TOO!

I was like, that kid had better just put the gun down and back away. He kept holding it out and stepping closer and closer to Carl like he was about to make a move and grab him and shoot Herschel.
Yeah, no, I didn’t get impression either. Especially based on Hershel’s immediate bug-eyed reaction, I thought Carl was just shooting first unprovoked. I actually just rewatched it and if I keep it in mind that the kid’s going to try something, then it can definitely read that way. But, first impression, he wasn’t going to try anything, especially since Carl and Hershel were both aiming at him from point blank.

Rifle still pointing in general direction, still a threat. I would have probably shot before he even talked, but then, I was trained to shoot people who hold weapons.

Also, what’s the next move? A prisoner?

FWIW, I was OK with the episode. Well except for the nuclear grenade laucher with 500lb bomb-size explosions.

Yeah, come on. That kid never killed anyone, shot a gun prior to woodbury etc. He was just a kid being dragged into this by the Gov. And when shit got crazy he ran off alone into the woods he was so scared. Doesnt seem like the kid had any intent or reason really to do anything.

The actor playing Carl still stinks and has no range. I am still bitter about how shitty that epp was. I mean i recored the GoT season premier for that? commmmmmmon.

Here: the prison group attempts a bug out or fake a bug out (it doesn’t matter which) and is either (A) forced into the prison tombs by early arrival of the Woodbarians or (B) lures them down into the tombs.

I am confident the prison group will use tomb walkers as a weapon, because that has been the go-to trick of the writers for several episodes (Gov did it, Gov tried to do it, Andrea did it to the Gov, and Merle did it).

The asshole father whose kid just got killed by Merle will die in the prison assault.

As for Andrea, she will be tortured and either she or the nerd will kill the Governor – or he’ll do a Darth Vader and spin off into the wilderness to return at some later time.
I actually only give myself a C+ on this one. I got all the above from the title alone.

I had the major character death wrong (predicted Hershal). The choice of Andrea was much better than I predicted, and I should have seen this coming because of crowd hatred of Andrea — the people hated Lori, so she croaked. People hated Andrea, so she needed to croak.

I had Andrea living because they need hot chicks to keep the fan boy interest. I did not anticipate how easily they would replace her with another hot chick (the Latina or whatever she is for Woodbury).

I will note they followed the closest-to-the-person-kills rule with Michone killing Andrea.

The fact that the new Latina could not get the truck started reveals to me she will be another idiot. Indeed, the fact that she did not pre-emtively head-shoot all her compatriots before they rose makes me know she is an idiot.

The fact that the protagonists and the governor respectively each chose the school bus and dodge pickup (again, respectively) instead of the truck with a .50 cal on top also makes me hate them all.

Not worried about Carl becoming hard. The story arc will be: he loses his humanity (and his respect for his father) and then regains both. Essentially the same arc of John Connor from the Terminator movies, but with a father figure.
Seriously? The prison has a perfectly cut lawn and this bothers you?

As for the Latina, keys could have been in the pocket of a dead person, shooting those downed would be loud and a give away if the gov was near. Plus she was a comfy civilian, probly never had to nor had the spit to shove a knife into someones head.

Carl isnt becoming ‘Hard’ as much as he is going through puberty and that natural teenage rebellion stage only he is doing it in a world with no real rules and lots of dead people. Im just waiting for the episode where Rick finds a bunch of used tissues in Carl’s cell.

I re-read your post. Sorry, I missed your sarcasm

I still wasn’t letdown. I think if they killed off anyone but Andrea it would have been another loss of a character in the show and make me less interested in it overall. I like when shows are willing to kill off major characters to keep my from feeling safe they won’t die but I think this has already succeeded with that to the point where I’m now wondering when the next person is going to bite it. They are starting to lack quality characters and need to develop more before they take them out. They finished off the gov storyline, at least enough that it’s not going to be the primary thread when it comes back next season and did a good job at raising the question of how mini-Shane will be in the coming season.

I also thought the mass homicide by the gov was a pretty big event for the finale! Maybe they were a bit understated in the horror and the significance? It would have had more power if there were known characters who were in the pile of bodies I suppose.

How was Carl supposed to know this kid’s innocence? Carl too is only a kid but looks what he’s lived in the new zombie reality. Carl can only apply his own lens to that. Carl can only assume they are coming from as harsh a reality as he is.

Yeah I was wondering that too, if he did live then what? Keeping a prisoner isn’t going to work out that well either. But I didn’t think there was time for Carl to calculate that but maybe he would have considering how it went with the last prisoner they had.

I’m glad Andrea died but I still think she owes us all ass to mouth and a big swallow. Didn’t even get to see her get mauled by the zed or shoot herself.

Man, I was with you but only the Gov went back for seconds with her. I’m really starting to think the writers have problems writing for women

So for all the comic readers, one interesting prediction I read was that the good old Governor is going to join up with the hunters and re-attack the prison next season. The guess is that they are going to do another 6-8 month fast forward, with the prison being a real home, only to get attacked and ruined for good this time.

The show has started to stray so far away from the source material, I really have no idea where the story is going to go next, but I do have a feeling the Governor will make another appearance before we know for sure he is gone.

That makes 2 of us. I hope they are not making him into the WD bad guy like the smoking man on X-files. With any luck they are just stretching the prison story into two seasons.

When Carl shot the kid, the kid was lowering his weapon in such a way and seemed to be inching closer that I was sure he was going to pull something so when Carl shot him it seemed like the right thing to do. I don’t know if the scene was meant to raise that doubt or if that was me expecting additional complications due to the nature of the show. I’ll have to go back a rewatch that scene.
I said to my wife right after Carl shot him, “When you know you’re covered and someone orders you to put your gun down, you do just that.” Put the gun down. Don’t inch forward (like that kid was doing) and try to hand it over … you’re asking to get shot by Carl…

Carl was right …I would have smoked the kid too. He was asked to comply. He dicked around. That kid also just attempted to kill his extended family when he was in the initial attack.

According to a few sources, David Morrissey (actor who plays the Gov) has signed on for season 4 as a regular, so we’ll be seeing him again; my guess is in the 1st episode

I hope its also the last episode we see him in…except in Michonne’s mind. I don’t want the Gov to become the Polar bear in the woods (Lost)

I don’t remember seeing anything like that. I saw Carl being a d*ck.
They said “drop the gun” NOT “hand me the gun” which he was trying to do.

If you are to stupid to follow directions in a war environment…Bang you are dead.

In a “war environment” the kid’s heart beat is probably off the charts and he can’t process whether someone says ‘drop the gun’ or ‘hand me the gun’.

Same goes for the person that said drop it. Heart pounding, etc. Not expecting a kid of 12 to react like a war vet. Carl had bad things happen when he hesitated before.

I thought I would share
