Just because we are dealing in fantasy doesn’t mean we have to throw out all logic. However, you are right that suspension of disbelief is required to allow yourself to be entertained rather than sitting there with a notepad and a sneer, jotting down logical inconsistencies and plot holes.
But that is why we talk about this stuff. Maybe someone can come up with a line of reasoning where simply getting a zombies guts or saliva in an open wound doesn’t result in infection.
Also, to the originally quoted post, getting bit doesn’t turn you into a zombie, it kills you. Everyone that dies, regardless of cause, turns.
A better question is, why are zombie bites always lethal unless the affected limb can be removed in time?
I’m going to be honest some of the best Traits Daryl has on the show was what made me like Michonne in the comic. It’s like since they gave him the lone survialist Rambo image Michonne had in the books they don’t know how to write her character on the show. So we are left with mystery glares.
But as for all the other comments this show is not about the zombies (hell it could be killer bunnies). It’s about Average Joes Forced together and how mankind will both Rise to meet disaster and sink to the worst traits we wont admit each of us share.
I could see the Walking Dead going down with a version of the Black Death that hit the middle ages taking the earth again. Imagine no cure everyone is a walking possible Carrier of this virius. Most everyone is dead or sick. We would sink into a version of this show faster than you could imagine. Can not say the same for the Game of Thrones no matter how much I enjoy the show.

Still cant get over Hershel being the voice of reason, you know, they guy who kept a zombie farm that we all forget about. I used to love Rick, crazy rick…meh. How did Carl become the most likable non Daryl character? Did he actually get cool, or is everyone else just no longer appealing?

Yeah, badass shane and rick work because in their former lives they were law enforcement. Daryl and Merle where redneck hunters with an abusive father(we found out in last weeks show). Glenn was a flippin pizza boy. Same reason why I cant take the gov seriously because he seems like he was a nobdy in his past life and just now wants power.
On that line of thought, what was michonne? A trained samuri? or did she work at smothie king?
